Platinum Tools T62 Recon Test Set

Great butt set, lots of features and nice to use. Love the large lighted display and glowing keypad (wire room are always so dark). Wish it came with a pouch and a cord winder.

This device has a failed cable connection to the actual set so you have to wiggle the wire where it enter the set in order to get the dial tone.THIS IS A TROUBLESHOOTING TOOL so it needs to be reliable. You can enter another suspect device into the troubleshooting process.Since I needed a test set that is reliable, I just ordered the FLUE - Fluke Networks 25501109 TS25D Telephone Test Set with Angled Bed-of-Nails Clips, Earpiece, 6-Wire In-line Modular Adapter, and Pouch

Good tool, still learning all the features but sturdy construction and design. Only problem is figuring what to do with the leads when not used but minor point

The base unit is okay, it's unfortunate a screwdriver (#0 Philips) is required to change the battery as my main kit doesn't normally carry a tiny screwdriver.The cords are also - bizarre. The RJ-11 plug almost just gets in the way and it's hard to get the dust cover off - which you will need to protect the tab. The cords are going to be the first thing that fails on this as the strain relief on the main part is insufficient. It's one of those things where you take one look at it and "Well, that's just no good at all." - poor engineering there.

Performs flawlessly on speaker phone.

I bought this product for professional use as I needed a butt set that had digital signal recognition and the ability to display voltage. I used it for less than a year and the pigtail became useless. When i called for support, the person i talked with acknowledged that this has been problematic. When I asked about replacement pigtails I was pointed to a retailer that was inflexible in their shipping methods (I live in Hawaii) and the shipping was 2/3 ($45) the cost of the replacement pigtail ($65). So basically, I was left with a $225 brick. This device still sits in my tool box waiting on prices to come down. I have attempted to repair it several times but the pigtail just keeps breaking.The device itself works well. It will not stand up to the wear and tear of daily commercial use, so if that is your intention look at other manufacturer devices. If you plan to use this device sparingly, it may work for you. I can't say how it will hold up with light use, but it will probably hold up better than to the rigors of daily use. I bought a Fluke Butt Set and have been much happier with the performance and durability.

Took some getting used to but works like a charm.
