My 9-10 year old liked it
Comic book style biography. Seems good, as an intro to MLK’s life and the civil rights era. For a while was my boy’s favorite book. Nothing negative in the book about MLK, as one would expect in a comic book, this is not a dissertation. Artwork is quite nice!

A Good Complementary Text About This Great Leader
Written by Michael Tettelbaum and Lewis Helfland, and illustrated by Naresh Kumar, the text properly covers the most important events in MLK's life, includes his parents' influences, and his everlasting legacy. Although this text is not to replace a comprehensive biography about MLK, it is certainly a motivator. The only slight I find with these Campfire texts, particularly when it comes to biographical material, is the lack of material with a table of contents and text features that can aide students' reading comprehension skills. It would be good if Campfire could make chapters for these texts since organizing large amounts of content is helpful for students' retention of details, facts, and events. The other slight is that some of the documents written by him, such as the Letter from Birmingham Jail, deserved an entire page or two, rather than the small panels given to them. The book does have a beautifully designed timeline titled "From Chains to Freedom" at the end of the book. The language used in the text suggest that this is good for sixth to eighth graders and above.

Forceful depiction on Martin Luther King Jr.
This book may appeal even to those who tend to find such topics as human rights boring. There is no denying that we owe this guy our unfettered rights to live without discrimination at least in theory.

It's not a novel but a picture/comic book. Short, good for children. As a gift.
Though I wasn't aware it's a picture/comic book. I thought of returning it since it was so big in size and only 100 pages. But after reading it I felt fine. I thought it was 500+ pages autobiography. But it's a comic book with life of Martin Luther king which is great to give you glimpses into the life of this person. Not great if you are looking for a comprehensive coverage of the life events of Martin Luther King. But hey who has so much of time, what I liked about it is, this way you can read 10 autobiographies in same time one would cover a single one.

Story of America's great social reformer..In graphics
Another good offering from Campfire Graphics on a biography of a great personality. A very inspiring reading for teenagers. His life and times are well scripted for a graphic novel, ably supported by very good illustrations.Graphic adaptions are a good source of introducing great personalities to children. This book is one of them. This review is for Graphic novel by Campfire (ISBN : 9789380028699)
