Gourmet Chocolate Biscotti Gift Basket - Large Sampler Box

These biscotti have great visual presentation on a fancy platter for a festive occasion. However, they are not very good tasting biscotti. The biscotti ingredients in this Barnetts assortment, as listed on the label, are: Flour, sugar, eggs, soybean oil, vanilla sugar, baking powder, and salt. The topping ingredients are not listed.I think the primary offender in this product is probably the soybean oil, which is NOT a gourmet biscotti ingredient. Also, biscotti are supposed to be baked twice to achieve a dry, hard, crunchy texture. These have a very soft crunch, either from the use of soybean oil instead of butter or from being baked once only, or possibly from both. So maybe they would be suitable for your Great Aunt Sarah who has bad teeth and difficulty chewing hard items.Despite the very varied appearance of these biscotti, most of them tasted very much the same. The exceptions were the ones that contained toppings with apricot, cranberry or mint pieces. I think the primary ingredient in the icing was also soybean oil. This is based on the soft oily texture and flavor of the toppings. Butter based frostings have a firmer texture and much better taste.I threw the last four of these in the trash.I will never buy or serve them again. I regret not tasting one before offering them to friends.

I got them for gifts.. My mom opened them when I was over... The best I have ever tasted. WI'll get again
