Q: Is there a way to drain the fuel out of the carburetor so it doesn't gum up?

Here is the correct, small engine mechanic answer. Run it out of gas using the fuel shutoff valve. THEN, you MUST drain the remaining 3 teaspoons or so of gas out of the carburetor using the drain screw on the bottom of the carburetor bowl. Yes using the fuel shutoff valve still leaves quite a bit of gas in your carb bowl. Then after you have drained all the gas out using the drain screw, put the choke on, and try to start it. This will suck any residual fuel out of the small carb passages. Usually the engine will run for a few seconds, sucking any remaining fuel out of the small passages. Once you have done all this, you can reasonably assume that your generator will start next time you need it to. I have done it this way for 20 years and haven't had a generator carb problem yet.

Q: Is this unit able to convert to duel fuel?

Inverter generator's fuel consumption when listed by the manufacturer is taken at 25% load. That's industry standard. I own two inverter gensets from champion. On eco mode, the unit will not begin to increase the engine speed until you hit the 25% mark. So, at an idle, expect 11.5 hours of run time. Open frame synchronous gensets fuel consumption is taken at 50% load, again, industry standard. While using both styles in power outages, know that for 7 days straight, they ran. I tried both styles. Neither generator style was ever run at max during emergency use. Again, industry standard across all manufacturers.
