Q: Newer version,there is no battery level indicators on mine as shown in pictures,this is the black newer 2020 model,also no on off switch .

Same with my USB powered one, no battery indicator for the sender units? Instructions are also not updated, no mention of USB power. Maybe battery indicator only comes on when they are low? Main unit also loses settings if power fails unless it has batteries as well, instructions need updating, not good!!

Q: Does the Max/Min display reset every 24 hrs or only when clear key pressed? I need to know max&min temp after days away (alarm no use in empty house)

As far as I can see it resets every 24 hours.

Q: Does the 2020 version have a battery backup if the power fails while it is plugged into the mains via the USB lead?

No it does not. If you unplug the USB without batteries in the unit sets back to default values when you plug it back in, so the same will happen after a power cut. It needs batteries fitting for more peace of mind, I guess standard AAA would do as only used if power fails?
