Amazing book about the Sioux and their seven respective Council Fires!

Learned alot of new things about the sioux culture.

Great addition to my Native American Library. :O)

There were tidbits of intriguing cultural/custom information in this book. However, it was often redundant, with poorly planned chapters that repeated information. The title, though necessitating some history to be presented for cultural understanding, was VASTLY misleading when it came to Sioux customs, since they were merely touched upon in one very brief chapter.Being a Cornhusker fan, I also found that the University of Nebraska Press really let readers down when it came to the book's editing. To say it was poor is an understatement. Misspellings, repeated words, words omitted, and even misspellings of NATIVE words that had already been introduced... most disappointing.For this book to be among scholarly genre pertaining to the Sioux Nation, it deserved FAR better attention in its production and editing process. For this reader, it contained necessary information on a subject I am currently researching, but was far too burdensome to enjoy.
