    Great Guide!!!

*by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2014*

As a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV), I know that RPCVs have the best information on important things like availability of toilets and toilet paper, showers, and food that won't make a traveler ill. I'd never been to Mongolia before, but was happy to put my trust in this book. And, it was a good decision. This was a great guide during my trip (1 month), because it helped me and my driver (my Mongolian friend's brother) make good decisions on places to visit in and around the Gobi Desert. The information, particularly on Erdene Zuu, was excellent to have along because the description is long enough to provide a lot of information, but not too long to be boring or dry. It's really an excellent book!!! Also, I loved reading it before my trip, to learn about the culture and the background of various locations. I really enjoyed the 1/2 page interviews with local folks. My driver found that our GPS did not agree with 2 of the GPS locations provided in the book. We don't know which one was incorrect, so be careful with your GPS. I should mention that when I met other tourists, they borrowed my book to learn about the places they were visiting. They also appreciated the information to be found in the book.I've included it here: http://mongoliavisit.weebly.com

    Amazing Peace Corps Volunteers!

*by T***M on Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2012*

I have an incredibly high opinion of Leslie, Nathan, Ashlee and Andy and I know them personally. We served together as Peace Corps Volunteers in Mongolia and they are fully committed to Mongolia and its wonderful people. In fact, proceeds from the authors are going back to Mongolia to support educational and community initiatives. What other travel guides can say that? The short story is, don't buy touristy travel guides. More importantly, don't be a tourist. Engage with real people, see the country the way people that love it see it, and don't exploit anyone, ever. This travel guide will help you do that. It's the only guide about Mongolia like that on the planet and it's the only one you need to read. Thank you Leslie, Nathan, Ashlee and Andy, for your service to Mongolia which is continuing long after your time in the Peace Corps has been completed.

Informative & entertaining travel book on Mongolia

This book was a surprise. I didn't expect to learn so much about Mongolia while reading

Mongolia (Other Places Travel Guide)

The history information at the front of the book is well written & easy reading, especially when you think of history. The book is informative about Mongolia itself & the people. I especially enjoyed how they profiled a variety of people in the different areas. It is a very comprehensive book telling about money, hotels, nightlife, transportation, etc. in the different areas of Mongolia. The fact that four former Peace Corps volunteers, who had lived in Mongolia, wrote this book makes it so informative because they were there. It makes me want to take a trip to Mongolia! The book makes it so easy to travel around Mongolia.
