Before Ancient Egypt Became Part of the Middle East it was African
Budge during his day was the ultimate scholar on the ancient Egyptians because he sincerely wanted to understand the ancient dwellers of the Nile. As a result, he wrote a number of books including books on the hieroglyphic language but somewhere alone the line he fell out of favor and many suspect that it was because of this two volume book. In his quest to understand who the ancient Egyptians were and not accept that they just disappeared off the face of the earth with no trace, as some would like the public to believe. Budge using cultural comparison tried to trace the ancient Egyptian influence. What he discovered was that out of all of the people in the world, the people that shared the most cultural practices and traits with the ancient Egyptians were the Africans in Sub Sahara Africa. In this book (and the second volume) are a listing of cultural traits that Budge found that only the Ancient Egyptians and Sub Saharan Africans practice. For instance, most scholars will say that the ancient Egyptians worshiped the sun, proof that they are just repeating what early egyptologists have said to them, thus perpetuating the myth that the ancient Egyptians were idol worshipers. Budge however found that it was not the sun the ancient Egyptians held in high regard, but the Moon like other Sub Saharan Africans. You will find out that the reason why after serious study is because the Moon corresponded to the Amun Ra, which is the highest manifestation of Ra.A highly recommend this book if you are interested in going beyond ancient Egyptian 101 and aren't afraid or ashamed to discover the cultural roots.

Lots of History here
Way more ancient history than I was prepared for; it's obvious Wallis Budge did his homework in researching this book. He goes into great detail about the legends & rituals of the ancient Egyptians, which did interest me. However, he compares the Egyptian rituals with those of many primitive African tribes, which I thought was not needed in this book.

Black Egypt the truth
Osiris and the Egyptian Resurrection vol. 1 is a great read by Sir Wallis Budge. In this first volume Budge shows and proves the origins of the Ancient Egyptian people came from the Sudan. This debunks all the racist nonsense that the Ancient Egyptians were not black Africans. One of the world's greatest and famous Egyptologist who is white gives concrete cultural facts proving Egyptians were once a black African people

Osiris and the Egyptian Resurrection
This book contained all the racist dogma possible. But we must remember that Wallis Budge made a great effort at translating the Hieroglyphics at a time when denouncing all non European people was the norm.
