Don't panic - it's good
I had read quite a lot about the filming of the lost episodes and did not realize that it was out on DVD. When I first looked it was sold out and perhaps would not have more. I looked a couple of days later and amazon had 6 in stock, by the time that I hit purchase I had the last one. I watched the 3 episodes the day it came and I was not disappointed. it has all been done very well indeed not only the selecting the actors, filming & producing. Apart from the 3 episodes there is also some interviews with the some of the actors and their thoughts about being chosen and taking part. We are also treated to some of the out takes, which are hilarious, forgotten words, wrong words, a few bleeps and some ad libs. All in all it is brilliant. A couple of the actors for me although they done there best and were good, were not as good as others, to be fair I am not going to name them. My only thought, was the colour of Pikes scarf. I thought it was Claret & Blue as in some of the football teams scarfs. If you are a Dads army fan this is a must. I am positive you will not be disappointed

A valiant effort
This is a valiant effort at recreating a classic TV show & was obviously going to find it hard to fill such big boots. But saying that, we really enjoyed the 3 episodes. Give it a try, the actors grow on you & whilst they could never be as good as the original cast, they are good. Timothy West in particular, as Godfrey, is perfect. It’s a bit like watching an Elvis impersonator, no matter how good he is, he'll never be as good as the real thing. UK gold did a Stirling job on the scenes too, perfectly matching the original scenes, great background music from the war years & the same style of production as the original series. If you like the original series, then I definitely would recommend this DVD. Glad to have it in our collection & have already watched it twice & feel sure that it will be watched many more times.

A Brilliant Way To Complete The Collection
Just watched these three episodes and have no hesitation in giving this DVD five stars. Other reviewers have cast doubt on the actors; sure, it's not the original cast which cannot be bettered, but I thought all the characters came across as we would expect. The stories behind each episode are funny and the outtakes are hilarious. I'm more than happy to have this DVD to complete my collection and, like the original episodes, I would watch these again at any time.

Dads army lost episodes remake
No one can replace the original cast. However this is a brave attempt by people who genuinely love Dads Army. It is sad that these 3 episodes are lost but we always live in hope. However this at least brings them to life again and I would recommend the dvd to all Dads army enthusiasts. Happy viewing

Dads army, the lost episodes
Fantastic....at last I'm able to watch the lost episodes and as a big fan of dad's army I think they done a great job.....yes they will never be the same as the real actors but to finely see what they could off been like was great, and the only other way to get close to them was listening to them on the radio series so overall a great addition to my set

Wasn't disappointed !
There's always a danger when well known cast are replaced by actors you know from other things. But the casting for 'The lost episodes' is spot on !The 'lost episodes' cast remain true to the original characters and that is both surprising and fun to watch.Thoroughly recommend it.

The Lost Episodes
Very nice attempt at making such an iconic tv shows missing episodes. The original Dad's Army is a classic, I appreciate trying to fill in the blanks from the lost episodes.

A faithful recreation of the lost episodes of Dad's Army.
A faithful recreation of the lost episodes of Dad's Army. The actors are different, but much effort was made to preserve what the original authors intended.

Well done
Vary close to the original. If you liked the original series you will like these 3 episodes. The only down side was I was thinking how the original actors would have played it.

Nostalgically good but visually disappointing.
I was really hoping for a similar acting quality to that of the more recent Dads Army movie which I loved and had great “stand ins” for the original mostly deceased cast. I had the original audio of the missing episodes but the film lacks the “feel “ of either of the of the old teams. Some is miscasting, some is setting and it just doesn’t seem to flow like the old episodes. Good to see in film at long last but why didn’t they try to get the same crew who did the movie just for continuity and consistency. Difficult to achieve I know but…. Ron
