Oil in a motor is not supposed to come in contact with the coolant fluid. Separate systems. If it does, you have a blown head gasket or cracked block. **Q: Do I need any gaskets with this?** A: It is recommended to go ahead and change the thermostat housing when you change the thermostat. The housing should come with a new gasket if I recall correctly. **Q: You have the install instructions with a torque spec of 20 foot pounds,this is wrong and will snap off these small bolts. 15 foot pounds and no more?** A: There are so many different torque values floating around from 100-110 in/lbs to 18 ft/lbs. I think some of theoroblem is there are different types of housings. The aftermarket is Billett Aluminum and can handle higher torque but the original Ford housing is a thin stamped steel and tightening the bolts to even 15 ft/lbs will cause the thin steel to bend and not apply equal force.
