How big is the cute dog in the picture? I am trying to compare it to the size of my 13 pound shih tzu.

Not sure of the size of this dog, but we have two of these seats. One is for a 10lb Morkie, and he has tons and tons of room. The other is for our 15. Lb Carn Terrier and he is very comfortable in his seat and LOVES to sleep in it. Hope this is helpful.

It would sit on the console of a van although it is designed to be anchored in place. It is a collapseable seat and may not fully open unless it is anchored to the headrest of the car seat.
