The best of the lot
This is my second Para Acoustic. My first ended up solving problems for a good friend, so I gifted him. I mot often use this to boost the signal from my passive LRBaggs pickup installed in my Gibson L130 acoustic guitar. The performance is always flawless, regardless of amp/PA set-up. I don’t gig out as often these days, but my first one survived eight years of dragging around and loaning to friends to try out. It is a first-rate, solid performer. Tweaking to find the right sound is relatively easy given its broad potential. If you’re fussy (and I am), the learning curve is long, but not steep. Once you manage the first use, dialing in a great sound the next time (different guitar/amp) is fairly straightforward. I always recommend this device to friends and they usually buy their own after trying mine. I love it.

Great mandolin Addition!
Great match for my mandolin. Super charged the sound. Gives me great control of all aspects of the sound. Makes my $1000 mandolin sound like a custom built unit I couldn’t afford. I highly recommend it

Great DI for my upright bass
Takes a bit of playing around with but it's a great DI for stage and studio, sounds great with my acoustic guitar and upright bass.

It does make the pickup sound better
The Para DI does make my pickup sound better. I also Like the gain knob. It colors the sound in a pleasing way. Clarity isn't always the best for an acoustic pickup. I did not like it as a direct box for recording a fender electric Bass into a DAW. could be my bass, but I am guessing its not suited for that purpose. I have read about people loving it on standup bass, and I can see how that would be good.the thing I HATE about it is that the knobs don't have a center or "0" notch. so you never know if any of the EQ knobs are boosting or reducing signal. maybe its the small format, but it sucks. I think this is an important feature missing. Everything else on it works great!
