Q: Can the basket be detached for times I do not need to use it?

Yes, it’s detachable. But honestly the basket makes it 100% more user friendly! Otherwise you can’t hold or carry anything from room to room. This knee scooter was great as I recovered from a fractured fibula. I even used it on Halloween to carry ET in my basket;)

Q: I'd rather have pneumatic tires but want the stability of 4 wheels. Has anybody switched out the tires themselves?

I've kept the original tires and it could use something to stabilize it. I have fallen when a tire got caught in a crack in the street. Overall it does the job. But I don't trust it.

Q: Just received mine today and there is a terrible squeak, like metal on metal. Can't really sure where the source is, best guess the back wheel break.

This is how mine sounded after week 1. Week 2 it has got worse. I’m Awaiting a response from Knee Rover as to how to stop the squeaking.
