Living the Mass: How One Hour a Week Can Change Your Life

Wonderful book, but a little simpler than I wanted, too light on theology for me, but others would love. The book follows a similar structure for each portion of the Mass. First, an anecdote by one of the authors brings up something useful for a starting point. Then the basics of both the what and the purpose of a section of Mass is explained. Then there is a bit perhaps with another anecdote about what you are supposed to get out of this broadly. The chapter ends with ways to live this out during the rest of the week and an inspiring quote from Scripture or a saint. The Mass is broken down into fairly small sections ie not just Liturgy of Word and Eucharist. Finally, the book wraps up with a review of the way the Ten Commandments are there to help us and how the Mass reinforces them along with the Works of Mercy and Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Really adds a great perspective on how to approach Mass with more than a weekly check list item.

This book gives you insights on what you are witnessing at Mass. No longer will you just attend the Mass but you will now know whyyou are attending and following the priest. This instills the attendance to continue to think about what you witnessed and why. I was amazed in the chapter on the homily. I listened to the homily but didn't know the pattern. When our priest has his homily it follows that chapter and remains with me during the week. I'm not done with the book as I am reading slowly and highlighting portions to remember.. Also, if more people would read this wonderful book, attendance at Mass would increase.

This is not a meditation on the mass readings. This explains the mass. I was looking for a book to help me meditate on the readings from the bible and to apply it to my life. I understand the meaning of each part of the mass. It would be good for someone learning about our Catholic faith.

The book will help me understand the catholic mass, and increase my faith!

It really tells you how God can change your life, your perspective and bring you close to Him. You become God's man/woman. Mass and just plain church have more meaning for you and you catch on to the 'fruit of the Spirit'. It helps the reader understand the fruit of the Spirit.

Living The Mass: How One Hour A Week Can Change Your Life As an RCIA director I have used this for the past two years and I am ordering it for the third year. Several of our candidates have said it was the most helpful resource we provided. I like that it links abstract concepts to practical action, prayer to life.

A VERY USEFUL TOOL FOR CATECHISIS! Using this for part of our Confirmation preparation material. Excellently written, easy to read and understand the Mass in context of life in the Scriptures.

Am learning lots and enjoying reading this book.
