This was a gift for my sister and she loves it. I personally thought the quality was outstanding. Just opening and closing the book give a satisfying feeling as the two magnets sucked together.Amazon asked me to mark a remote control out of 5 but it doesn't have one I don't think it needs one to be fair because if the books open it's on, if you want to turn it off you close it, you wouldn't keep it opened and turn it off, otherwise you'd just buy a normal lamp.

This is a fun design, I prefer the yellow light, (there are 3 settings, bright white, bright yellow, dim). Needs to be charged up fairly frequently with included usb. Sturdier than it looks, as survived a fall from my son’s top bunk.

As an avid reader, I like this book light a lot. It is a rechargeable light so it means it becomes a portable little lamp. It looks great as a display piece and creates a nice ambient light so looks great on a shelf or in a corner unit.The book lights up when it is opened, if you open and close it it then gives a different light effect, so a warm light or a brighter white light. The book does not give enough light to read by, so it is a decorative lamp. The book can be stood up on end and opened or opened back with both sides laid flat on a table.The case of the book is a plastic-type material, it does look good but I do think that if it was dropped it would definitely break, the spine of the book has little cutout slits these can nip your skin.Overall this is a lovely lamp, it is more for decoration than practical use. It looks really good and very effective when lit up. There is a charging cable included that fits in a USB port for charging.This is a lovely item and I am delighted with it and I would recommend it.

Gave it to someone who loves to read. They were thrilled. It seemed sturdy and of good quality. I'm informed its perfect for bedside reading.

I wasn’t expecting to like this item as much as I do, it didn’t look that well-made from the pictures and I assumed it would be a plastic book-jacket but it isn’t. The outer jacket is made from plywood and so the woodgrain effect is real and give it a presence and weight you might not expect. On the spine of the book the plywood has been intricately laser-cut to make a clever articulated hinge - but beware fingers getting slightly nipped as you open the book.Inside the book pages are made from Tyvek paper which is the plasticised paper they make untearable envelopes from and they form a sort of bellows that conceal the LED light and battery inside. The Tyvek also has a nice fibrous texture visible when the light is on. The light comes on when you open the book and you can choose from three shades of light simply by closing and reopening the book to cycle between them. It should last virtually all night from a single charge so it makes a nice night-light for young or old. You recharge it by attaching the supplied USB-micro cable to a port hidden on one edge of the book cover - note that no mains adaptor is supplied.You can place it however you like and it looks great each way - either as a half-open book, or opened flat or even fully opened into a complete 360˚ light shade. There are magnets in the book jacket which hold it when fully open and also when closed. It’s certainly a bit of a gimmick but it’s very nicely thought-out and well made and much more attractive in real life than it might appear in the photo’s above.
