Crafted from durable nylon duck canvas with reflective stitching, it’s built to withstand rigorous training sessions while enhancing safety during low-light walks. Ideal for large, strong dogs still learning leash manners, this leash combines Carhartt’s legendary workwear quality with thoughtful features to support every step of your dog’s training journey. ## Description Training your dog takes time, perseverance, and the right equipment for the job. The Carhartt Shock Absorbing Control Leash was specifically designed to handle an eager dog who is still pulling every which way. The elastic shock control zone in the middle of the leash absorbs the jolt when a strong dog hits the end of the lead suddenly, easing static jolting to the dog's neck and the owner's shoulder and wrist rather than letting the full force of the pull transfer directly through the leash. The neoprene lined top handle provides a comfortable grip for standard walking and carrying without the webbing cutting into the hand on long outings. The bottom control handle sits lower on the leash for grabbing close to the dog in high-traffic moments, when passing other dogs, or when an immediate training correction is needed without pulling the dog all the way back to you first. A rugged metal trigger claw clasp attaches quickly to collar or harness rings and operates with gloves on. An extra gated clip provides a secondary more secure attachment option. A slotted metal D-ring slides up and down the leash for adjustable attachment at different positions. Built from nylon webbing with duck canvas weave for durability through months of daily training sessions. Reflective triple-needle stitching provides low-light visibility on early morning and evening outings. At 6 feet long and 1 inch wide. Carhartt has been building workwear-grade gear since 1889. This leash is built to the same standard for every dog and owner working through the training process together. ## Features - BUILT FOR DOGS THAT ARE STILL LEARNING NOT TO PULL | Training takes time, perseverance, and the right equipment. The Carhartt Shock Absorbing Control Leash is specifically designed for eager dogs who are still pulling every which way. The elastic shock control zone in the middle of the leash absorbs the jolt when a strong dog hits the end of the leash suddenly, reducing the snap load on the dog's neck, your shoulder, and your wrist. 6 ft x 1 inch - TWO HANDLES TOP FOR WALKING, BOTTOM FOR CONTROL | The neoprene lined top handle provides a comfortable, cushioned grip for standard walking and all-day carrying without the webbing cutting into your hand on long outings. The bottom control handle sits lower on the leash for grabbing close to the dog in high-traffic situations, when passing other dogs, or when an immediate correction is needed without closing the distance to your dog first. - MULTIPLE ATTACHMENT OPTIONS TRIGGER CLASP AND EXTRA GATED CLIP | The rugged metal trigger claw clasp is glove-friendly and attaches quickly to any collar or harness ring. An extra gated clip provides a secondary attachment option for owners who prefer a more secure gate-style connection or who need to attach the leash through two rings simultaneously. A slotted metal D-ring slides up and down the leash for adjustable attachment points at different positions. - NYLON DUCK CANVAS WEAVE AND REFLECTIVE TRIPLE-NEEDLE STITCHING | Built from nylon webbing with duck canvas weave for elevated durability and abrasion resistance through daily training sessions, outdoor walks, and the kind of handling that a training leash takes over months of consistent work. Reflective triple-needle stitching provides low-light visibility during early morning and evening walks so both the dog and the leash are visible to approaching drivers. - CARHARTT QUALITY FOR THE LONG ROAD OF DOG TRAINING | Built to Carhartt's workwear-grade standard for new dog owners, experienced trainers, and everyone in between who has a dog that is still figuring out how a leash works. A practical and thoughtful gift for new dog owners, people adopting a rescue, and anyone starting training with a strong-willed dog. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B07NSB92RY | | Best Sellers Rank | #32 in Standard Dog Leashes | | Date First Available | August 15, 2019 | | Department | Pet | | Item Model Number | P000028720199 | | Manufacturer | Signature Products Group (SPG) | | Product Dimensions | 5 x 5 x 0.7 inches; 8.8 ounces | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Carhartt - **Color:** Carhartt Brown - **Material:** Nylon - **Product Dimensions:** 72"L x 1"W - **Size:** Large (6' Length x 1' Width) ## Images ![Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash Carhartt Brown - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81YcN9D0kmL.jpg) ![Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash Carhartt Brown - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81UJeQhOTGL.jpg) ![Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash Carhartt Brown - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81xga7DkLoL.jpg) ![Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash Carhartt Brown - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/8145U2mYnaL.jpg) ![Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash Carhartt Brown - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91viR91iyWL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: If it’s called a tradesman leash.....is it for keeping apprentices in line?** A: YES, but they still need to be sent to obedience school in order to become a skilled laborer. **Q: Would you get the large for a puppy (goldendoodle)? Or start with the small one?** A: It sizes down pretty small! you could probably get the large or medium & it would work with all the fur! **Q: I don’t see a neoprene handle. It looks like a nylon webbing to go around your wrist. Pictures do not show the handle grip. For large dog?** A: I got this for my large dog & I don’t recommend for large dogs. He ripped it first time I used it to walk him. My dog is too strong for this leash. I didn’t think it was made very durable for a Carhartt leash. **Q: How long is it?** A: 6 feet ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great leash especially at the price! *by on Reviewed in the United States February 12, 2026* Very sturdy and durable leash with a bit of stretch to it. It is fairly long but can be adjusted. It’s comfortable for me and her and the over all design is great. I highly recommend! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leash *by on Reviewed in the United States March 1, 2026* Works but when your dog chews on the leash everytime you take it out its bound to come apart. Good quality but price is a little steep just like anything else with a carhartt tag on it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Must have! *by on Reviewed in the United States July 30, 2026* Great buy and sturdy. Holds my 135 lb mastiff. I will only use this leash!
