Wow! Where do I begin on this pack. GREAT quality! GREAT price! GREAT features! This is my second backpacking pack I've had. And I don't think I'll ever buy another one. If this were to break I'd buy this same one again. This pack is one of the few backpacks I've researched that are ultralight and have pockets on exterior of the pack. Man that was a big seller for me. I wanted a pack that had exterior pockets and was a ultralight pack. This is the one pack I found I really liked. I picked this pack up for $100. MSRP is like $189-$200. So WOW! Great deal. Definitely recommend this pack. There are way to many excellent features it's hard to pick just a few to talk about. But I really like the exterior pockets for an ultralight pack. Most ultralight packs are just a big 55l-65l stuff sack. This one is so much more. Also on the front of the pack. There are cross member buckles. Once you undo those it kinda butterfly opens up. Along the inside of that flap is a zipper that runs the length of the pack and alows super easy access to contents inside bag. This is super handy as it is always hard to have to open your pack and dig to the bottom to get that one item you need. (Toilet paper,ect. ) So this side zipper makes life super easy with this pack. And it is covered by the flap so protected from rain and dust. Also tons of gear attachment loops, D rings, Daisy chain bungie, and straps. (Have to be careful not to over pack this pack as it has room for more than you need.) Last thing is the rainfly/ rain shield cover at bottom of the bag. Man that is super nice. Nothing ruins you hiking/camping trip like a downpour and wet gear. This rain cover is great. It is attached in a compartment at bottom of the bag. Just undo the very strong velco and pull it out and it's attached so you will never loose it. Also I like that is is attached so once it's done raining you can leave it out to dry as you continue you journey/trip. Then pack it back up. I would recommend this pack to everyone. It is adjustable. So can fit anyone who will be using it. Small kids this pack I think might be too big. Maybe just keep it packed light for kids and you would be okay. Also it's comfy. But I need to test it out longer to get a better feel for it. I am 6ft 2in. And 160lbs soaking wet lol. But this pack fits great for me. That's another plus. I hope this review helps. Excellent pack, especially for the price! I bought this last fall but wanted to wait until I took it backpacking before writing this review. In the meantime I took it on 3 car-camping trips and was very happy with how roomy the upper compartment was and the location and size of the external pockets. The 2 pockets in the lid are large enough to hold a lot of smaller gear and personal items; really helped me stay organized. I also bought the Teton Ultralight +5 Sleeping bag and, YES, it does fit into the lower sleeping bag compartment...but just barely. So make sure your sleeping bag has its own compressible stuff sack and can be compressed fairly small. The attached rain cover came in handy during a brief rain shower and is easily accessible. FINALLY, this past weekend I took it out on the trail; Maddron Bald Loop, 17.3 miles, difficulty 4 and 5 out of 5, Great Smoky Mountains.The hip belt is super comfortable. I am 6'0" and lanky so most hip belts start to become uncomfortable on my bony hips. But this belt fits and wears perfectly. This is my first pack with a water bladder compartment: it (plus a good water bladder) is a godsend! I struggled a little the first day trying to get the shoulder and chest straps, etc. adjusted properly for my narrow frame. But these straps are easily adjustable while hiking so overall I was very happy with the fit and comfort. I even used the heavy canvas carrying loop on the back of the bag to hoist my entire pack into the air from a tree to 'bear proof' it for the night while sleeping. Although I've only put the pack to the test once so far, and Maddron Bald is definitely a good test, the zippers and stitching seem to be very durable and I believe this pack should last me for a very long time. And for less that $80! Comparable packs I was looking at were starting around $110. I am super pleased with this pack and the sleeping bag I purchased. Let me first say that I'm 5'11 ~280 lbs. This pack when compared to my body would be like comparing a motorcycle to an 18-wheeler. Let's start with the good, then we'll get to the not so good. Pros: 1. A big guy like me can wear this thing to begin with. Anybody who's on the hefty side of life can attribute to the fact that sometimes things just don't fit. 2. This thing has more compression straps than I could have imagined. You could probably find a safe way to transport a baby on your back with the amount of compression straps this thing offers. 3. It has a built in rain cover. When considering this fact alone coupled with it's already reasonable price that's a huge win for a day pack/overnight pack. 4. It holds a surprising amount of items in all the various side pockets inside and outside of the main pocket. You can organize things well. 5. It has two very long compression straps on top for a sleeping pad or a sleeping bag. This keeps it out of the main pocket, which gives you more room to put smaller items. I just thought of this, but a small camp chair would probably sit pretty good on top as well so long as you could position it not to hit you in the back of the head as you walk! 6. It's got two bottle holders on the side, which are deep enough that you could throw small items in there as well (elastic bands around the top of each to keep them "closed"). 7. The map pouch is a really neat idea as it's shielded better than the rest of the pack from water. 8. Two velcro equipment loops. I put my hatchet and my shovel on them. Works wonderfully. Above was just a few pros that I really thought were nice additions to this pack that I hadn't really seen done quite as well on other packs. The next part will be my short Cons section. (no product is perfect!) Cons: 1. The harness is in proportion with the pack size. The problem with this is that the pack size is very small compared to a standard back pack (ironically this pack will hold probably double compared to a standard backpack) that means the harness is super small. The pack has huge pads for lumbar support, but that's kinda irrelevant if you can't get it to actually sit where it's supposed to. I haven't given up on this venture yet, I just haven't found the best solution. I think the problem is that if I sit the pack where it needs to be then the padded straps are sitting atop my shoulders while the extensions (which are plenty long enough) are sitting where the pads should be. 2. Small almost petty complaint, but I wish the belly strap would cinch down tighter as my somewhat large gut seems to loosen it over time. Conclusion: This packs features are leaps and bounds above the rest for the price. The strength of the material is something you shouldn't worry about as I've put a Lot of strain on this thing and it's held up just fine. I've used this pack as a day pack several times, and it is perfect. I'm going to take it on an overnight trip in June and so far I've successfully packed food, hammock, hammock straps, stainless cup for hot water, hatchet, camp shovel, sleeping bag, clothes, 100 feet of 550 paracord, 8x10 tarp, 2 Liter platty bag, toiletries, emergency fire starter kit (starter log and some waterproof matches), I'm sure there's other things that I'm forgetting. THe point I'm trying to make is I fit ALL of this stuff without using Any of the outside straps for lashing thigns onto the pack. All of those items fit inside the pack except for the shovel and hatchet which have no real reason to be in the pack. My Advice: If you're not a super large person then you could use this pack for an overnight trip easy, if you are a large person then you still could use it for overnight trips you'd just need to lash some items to the outside, which could throw off the balance of the pack. For the price I'd buy it again.

Won’t hold my -15 bag in the sleeping bag area. Hence the docking of two stars. Bought this for a 2 night trip with my LO and dog, in bear country, where nights will hit freezing, to replace my ancient Kelty pack. Both will have their own packs but dog is small(can’t carry much) and kid is young (can’t carry much). In warmer weather, without bears (and bear can) this bag might work. Was hoping to use this this trip and in the future longer trips when I don’t have to carry everything myself. Buying a bigger pack. Really like that it’s so adjustable though. Note that I am a proponent of ultralight but with a small kid I really do have to bring a change of clothes and extra shoes for her and us being two females I also need to bring additional supplies a guy might not need. Ha! Wondering how my dad did this when I was little!! UPDATE: So, I tried ordering the 4300 as a replacement and it was terribly uncomfortable even when empty. Turns out, this 3700 has so many straps, is very versatile, and is so well built that I was able to put my kid's sleeping bag in the bottom (unzipped the internal compartment separator) along with some clothes, strapped my sleeping bag to the top of the pack using a single strap, strapped a sleeping pad to the bottom, and clipped a second sleeping pad to a strap, and used the side cinchers for my ground cloth and to clip water bottles, and got it all to fit. (bear can and tent went vertical into the pack, pot/stove on top of the bear can, clothes and smaller items wherever I could fit them) I LOVE this thing. It was so very comfortable, even though I was carrying almost everything for two people. Also has lots of zipper pockets for different items to stay totally safe (car keys) and accessible (toilet supplies). I also liked that it had a little pocket on the waist strap, to put my Kleenex, hand sanitizer, knife, & flashlight. My only two suggested improvements would be to put a pocket on each waist strap (2 waist pockets, I have a daypack like that and it's helpful) and to make the waist pockets big enough to hold my phone. I was using my phone as my camera and although it's a smaller phone it didn't fit in the waist pocket and I ended up carrying it in the back pocket of my pants so that I could grab it out whenever I wanted. PS - I was concerned about rain one night so I pulled out the built-rain cover, put the pack on a rock (so the water would go around the rock and not into the bottom of the pack) and leaned it against a tree. Although it didn't actually rain, it seemed that the rain cover would have adequately protected the pack. I used to use a (now ancient) external frame Kelty pack. This new Teton was so great that I carried 47 lbs with no problem it practically felt like a day pack. And, I had to ALSO carry kid part of the way - almost 90 lbs total (and I weigh 123). I am a huge fan of this pack. I can't wait to go backpacking again!!

I am backpacking the Colorado Trail for a week with some friends and I wanted to upgrade my 20+ year old internal frame pack to save some weight. My friends kept sending me sale flyers for an Osprey. Yes, I know that Osprey is a great company and known for lightweight gear - I have other Osprey products - but I just couldn't see spending almost $200 even on sale. I came across this pack - it is even compared to an Osprey in a YouTube video I found - and decided to try it. For under $100 it fits my needs perfectly. Zippers and compression straps seem well made and sturdy. My sleeping bag fits in the bag compartment - barely, but fits, and I can attach my camp chair, compression bag with clothing and rain gear easily to the sides. I like the hip belt pouch - my old pack doesn't have that. The rain cover is included and located conveniently to pull out and quickly put over the pack - it has elastic. With everything on my pack the rain fly is adequate, but I wish it was slightly larger. Other than that I really like this backpack. I would recommend to anyone and if you do purchase be sure to watch the Youtube video on how to adjust it for your torso - it will make a huge difference in how comfortably the pack rides. I googled the pack name and found the video. I am 5'8" woman, regular build and was able to adjust this pack perfectly for me. I am able to get my gear and food in for a 5 night trip. I have been carrying the pack with full weight - 30 pounds - for over a month to get conditioned for the trip and it is holding up just fine. If the pack does not hold up well on the trip I will immediately re-post with any negatives.

I hiked about 600 miles and 100K feet of elevation gain with a back pack that was a little short on me but did the job while hiking all of the mountains over 4000 feet in NH this year. So when I was done I decided it was time to reward myself with a new pack especially with winter hiking coming and the need to carry more clothing. I am 6 feet tall and a 33" waist with a back measurement is 21.5". I had tried other packs on at many hiking equipment stores but they were more than I wanted to spend or did not fit just right. I bought this pack and was able to adjust it to fit my back perfectly and also be able to cinch up the waist belt for me. It fits very nicely on my body. I have been able to stuff this with clothing and emergency supplies easily and it has a nice feel on the body when filled. Did a hike in the snow last weekend which required micro-spikes and snow shoes, which I was able to attach to the outside of the pack easily (I did need to add a couple metal rings, like a key ring, to a couple locations so I would have places to secure items securely). I believe I read a review that a person could not fit a sleeping bag in the pack. I tested this first after receiving the pack and found that all three (not at the same time) of my sleeping bags fits nicely in the pack when they are in their compression bags. This pack only has about 20 miles on it and there are no signs of wear and tear and it looks like I will be getting just as many miles out of it as I have the others I own. I would strongly recommend this pack. If the manufacturer reads these reviews here are a couple recommendations. 1) I would like to have two water line output holes. I just had to get used to the water coming from the opposite side I was used too (over right shoulder). 2) would like to have "gear loops" on the outside of the pack. I have found other ways to attach gear but this is a nice feature on other packs I own. UPDATE: 1/19/2015 I have used this for about 100 miles of hiking since buying it, mostly winter hiking. Plenty of room for all the extra winter clothes and equipment. I added four metal key rings to strap/gear areas so I would have an area I could run cords/straps thru to attach the snow shoes, microspikes, and butt sled to. I have had no issues with the pack quality or anything else. Feels and fits real nice. UPDATE: 8/4/2015 I have put many more miles on this pack and am still happy with it. I did have to re-sew a section of the zipper on the top pouch, but that is about it for using it just about every other weekend for over a year. It has been scraped along rocks/boulders/trees as there have been many bushwacks to get to the peaks and there are no snags.

This is a totally decent backpack, but make sure to inspect yours right away. Mine came with a few issues. - First, the waist belt range of 28"-51" is completely untrue. As measured, at its LONGEST adjustment, it is no more than 44". Where they got 51", I have no idea. I have adjusted the straps as loose as they will go and it is most definitely only 44", so if your waist is bigger than that you may want to consider something else. - Second, the padding on the adjustable torso has been sewn completely wonky and unevenly. Like, not even close to being even. - Third, there are other unevenly-sewn seams on the front, as well one of the compression straps at the bottom has been sewn on too far to the left. - Finally, the inner draw cord for the main compartment is already frayed and the spring-loaded tension clip is broken on arrival. Now, none of these issues make this pack unusable, but for costing almost $100 (reg. price) I expected better quality. Aside from the above mentioned issues, this pack seems to be halfway decent, especially if you're just getting into backpacking (like me), not wanting/needing an ultralight pack, or you just don't want to pay out the wazoo for something else. I made sure to double check ALL the seams (as other reviewers have mentioned shoulder straps tearing off) and everything seems to be good, and the actual materials used feel plenty robust. Stuffed with all my gear, this pack feels fairly comfortable and it's easily adjustable enough to get the weight on your hips and off your shoulders. There are plenty of pockets and straps for gear storage - the top actually has two zippered pockets (one is accessible from the outside, one from the inside) for storing things you need to get to quickly/easily, and the bottom "sleeping bag" compartment has a zippered divider that allows you to access it from inside the main compartment of the pack if you like. There is one pocket on the waist belt (right side), which is nice, but if it were just a tiny bit bigger, it would be better. It barely fits a bandana, a buff, and my headlamp. Also, would it have blown the profit margin if they had included a second pocket on the left? It would be nice to be able to store all the little things that you would want access to without having to stop and take the pack off, like - sunblock, snacks, electrolyte powders, etc. The one pocket IS nice, but two would be twice as good. I plan on putting this pack through its paces in the Colorado wilderness, so I'll update this review in a couple months with my thoughts. EDIT - 8/30 - After using this pack several times, I have to remove one star and bring it down to 3. This pack is comfortable enough, but the mesh side pockets aren't well‐thought-out. If you carry the typical 1 liter Smart Water bottles, they fit fine, but you'll need to tuck the tops under the side compression straps to keep them in, as the pockets aren't very deep. They are also placed in such a way that you cannot reach back and grab a bottle for a drink. You have to stop and take the pack off, which is a pain in the butt, in my opinion. Sure, you can use a water bladder inside, but that's a pain to fill when on the trail, and also makes it difficult to monitor how much water you're drinking. Between the apparent lack of quality control, the one small belt pouch, and this pocket issue, I wish I had purchased something else. This pack will get retired VERY soon.

I was going to say that this is a great pack at the low end of the price range. Now, after using it for a year on a half dozen outings, I'm going to remove the caveat. It's a great pack. I'm not going to comment on the size of the main compartment, because that's a function of the size of the pack -- this one is 75L / 4600 cu in, and that's about what it holds. About a quarter of the space is the sleeping bag compartment, and I can smash my 25 year old 20 degree North Face bag in there just fine. There are two straps attached to the bottom of the bag for a sleeping mat (or anything else), a nice touch. The outside mesh pockets (one each side) easily hold a 1L Nalgene bottle. When I first put it on, I thought the fit was horrible, but there are just so many ways to adjust this pack that after some fiddling, I was able to get it to fit perfectly, with the load riding on the hips and steadied by the shoulders -- as it should be. I also like being able to access the main compartment in 3 different ways. I do have a couple of little niggles, though, that keep this pack from being absolute nirvana. 1) the outside side pockets are very narrow; a mag light fits, a small (1/5" x3"x4") lantern does not. Furthermore, because the zipper goes all the way down, they really are meant only for long, narrow objects -- items at the top fall out if the pocket is unzipped all the way. 2) I like the built-in lumbar pack, but a way to keep the straps from coming out when not in use would help. 3) There are a lot of straps on this thing. The compression straps do help balance the load, but if you try loading this thing in the dark, it's almost impossible to find the right one. But those are small nits. With packs like this on the market, why would anyone pay $400+ for the top name brands? TETON Sports limited lifetime warrantee adds peace of mind, and makes this one a no-brainer.

This pack works amazing. I tested this pack, along with several other items I had purchased on amazon, on a weekend expedition. I loaded the pack with 3 days worth of clothes, a set of rain gear pants, rain gear jacket, extra pair of shoes for evening wear, klymat inflatable pillow, air mattress, ohhu ultralight sleeping bag (was too light even for late spring weather), my emergency kit, sunscreen, bug spray, 3 liter hydration bladder, hygiene kit including a small bowl for washing and hung my VINSIC solar panel on the back. I used the clips on the bag to secure my Tenton 2 man mountain tent on the back. Equipment I was given included my meals for the weekend, lantrine kit, portable stove/fuel, hiking poles, gps unit, map & compass, water filtration kit and a dry bag for items except the hiking poles. I fit it all in this pack comfortably with even a little room to spare. The load was balanced and when I tightened the shoulder straps I was good to go for the hike. There was some parts that we had to descend small rocky areas and the pack was secure and balanced enough that the weight didn't throw me off. The first night I loved that I could store my sleeping bag, mattress and pillow in a separate bottom component. It was easy to get that stuff out and set it up. The other hikers were impressed with my ruck, and the tent to be honest. The bottom contains a cover for the ruck for rain. I used it during the canoeing portion and it worked great at keeping water off of the pack. Definitely sewn & stitched together well, even under stress there was no ripping, tearing of material or seams. I gave the pack a good wipe down when I got home and nothing looked damaged and it was a busy weekend. The hip straps kept the load weight feeling good around my back area. The small pouch in the front kept a few snacks handy for along the way. I've used a few packs and by far this is the best one I have used so far. I am doing another expedition in the fall so I am excited to try it out again or maybe get another brand to compare it against.

Surprisingly durable. The side pockets are made of thin cloth which is easy to cut but still holds. I have stomped and thrown this thing and it's still working. The straps in the front are a big plus for cycling. Can get heavy for road cycling and weaken the durability of the bike depending on weight of contents. Be warned Have worn for duration of over three hours and still feels comfortable. The heavier it is, the shorter duration I can carry it. The pads are comfortable on the back and the waterproof works perfectly

Used this bag for a three day trip on mount washington, I have to say the big fitted way more than I was expecting I dont have any cons, except that I would have liked a comprehensive manual of all the pockets and features but that is not something you see often. I was shopping at MEC and could only find what I wanted at two to three time the price, with less features. So the short story is lots of storage, hydration pack fitted well (3L) My big northface sleeping fitted just in the bottom compartiment, but the straps to tighten it were perfect I was carrying a secondary backpack (22L daypack) using the snowshoe straps and that was perfect. lots of easily accessible pockets free rain cover included is a huge bonus when you know retail stores are selling them for 45 to 60 for this size of backpack. QUality felt right, stitching looks of a good quality as does the fabric. "sadly" no rain yet, but I will use it again during winter on multiple occasions so I will report back on wagterproofing with snow

Escribo esta breve reseña a más de un año de servicio, con varios campamentos y viajes por avión a cuestas como experiencia y el producto no decepciona en lo absoluto. Todo lo contrario. Ha resultado una mochila de mediana capacidad, bien diseñada con materiales resistentes y practica. Hasta el momento ningún cierre, broche o material ha fallado. Seguramente encontraras mochilas "Top" de marcas como Osprey, High Sierra o Kelty con una reputación mayor pero también el precio lo es, mucho más. El precio de esta mochila no es precisamente una ganga. Me parece que es de media tabla ya que existen mochilas de esta capacidad por menos de mil pesos, pero su calidad deja mucho que desear. La durabilidad demostrada por está, bien vale cada peso invertido en ella.
