Faulty Manufacturing of Zipper Foot
The zipper foot does not stay in place and moves around while sewing. The threads of the screw that hold the zipper foot in place are too small and weak. The screw can actually be pushed into it's accompanying hole without screwing. This weak screw cannot be secured and it causes the zipper foot to slip when lowered onto fabric. This is a faulty manufacturing problem. I used this model zipper foot in the 1970s and never had a problem like this.

Great, except....
I have a Singer Quantum Sylist 9960, and this foot is what I was looking for - something that allows me to get really close for zipper application and is especially good for sewing on cording. The foot installs easily once you remove your low-shank snap-on adaptor foot (for regular snap-on presser feet). The zipper foot screws into the same place. The only thing is, the foot itself seems not to point straight ahead, but off to the right just a little. The sliding bar in the back makes the foot adjust to right or left of needle, just tighten the spring/screw once you have it in the position you like.I tried taking it on and off and made sure the screw was holding the foot on tightly, same with the adjuster bar, but it still looks a little off. It doesn't affect the function of the foot, i.e., needle doesn't strike the foot, it's just bothersome that I cannot get it to sit straight.
