Up to spec
This motor does everything it says on the spec sheet, and is also (relatively) well documented, from a "discount electronics item you buy from China" perspective.I'm running it in an closed-loop configuration, and it works amazingly well in that setup. I first got it working in an open-loop, and it worked very well, but the performance is notably improved in the closed-loop setup (I was able to manually block the path of my actuated item and make it skip steps with not a whole lot of effort, especially at any speed other than "very slow". When in the closed loop, I don't think it even gets to the point where a whole step is skipped, it seems to be able to correct the situation before the coil and the magnet get too far out of alignment. It's much, much harder to have the motor not go where you tell it to in the closed-loop config. This is my first foray into stepper motors, so I'm not an expert, but I've been very pleased with it, especially once setup in closed-loop.Minor annoyance that the controller doesn't have an input for the encoder that matches the old serial port connector (I think?) dangling off of the motor. Having a big clunky connector just to get to bare wires seemed silly, so I just chopped off the dongle and stripped the wires to attach directly to the controller. The wires inside *are* colored as the image suggests, so this was a pretty easy task.

Nice
Works great!

Easy to install
Was easy to install but the hook ups are tricky, once correctly connected it works great, took care of my loosening position on my z axis.

Great motor, best price, great website
I don't think I've ever had such a great hybrid servo/stepper motor. Easy to install, website has complete instructions on how to wire, calculate electronic gearing, and has the software for rs-232 if you want custom gearing or speeds or torque settings of the motor. You won't find a better motor, not for the price.
