Dark Matter, Dark Energy: The Dark Side of the Universe

a huge disappointment
I was eagerly looking forward to this disc. Unfortunately, it was on 2 discs. The problem with that being that only 1 disc was in the package. I don't blame Amazon for this, because the DVD case was only built to accommodate 1 disc. Amazon said the package was right, because the outside of the case said it was PART II. Part I is NOT listed for sale on Amazon, and I don't even know if they make it. The lectures, which were supposed to go from 1-34, only go from 13-34. I'm missing out on a lot of information that could be useful, as one lecture builds on the next. Very disappointed at The Great Courses for this product.

Good video
This is a good video about dark matter and dark energy. Sean Carroll has a bit of a sarcastic sense of humor that is sometimes a distraction, but on balance I would recommend it. There may be a few parts that are hard to follow, but he's trying to explain graduate-level physics to laypeople, and he does a pretty good job.

GREAT Great Course
I love the course, the professor really knows the subject and does an excellent job of making this subject interesting and very understandable to the non-professional. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was because it did NOT include the book and they did not tell you that it was not included.

Amazing review of research behind Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Amazing review of the research behind Dark Matter and Dark Energy. Provides an explaination of research led logically step-by-step to the belief in in dark matter and dark energy. Sean Carroll is a very good lecturer, easy to follow, and a dynamic speaker. This is an exciting journey through experimental and theoretical physics, not a boring lecture full of equations that mere mortals cannot understand.

Dated Lectures But Very Good Instructor
Very clear, helpful and easy to follow lecture by an experienced instructor, as is usual for The Great Courses. I watched this with my niece who is interested in astronomy.

Books not included but perhaps not needed anyway
Re: G. AndersonNo, this set does not come with the book but the lectures are so in depth and you can always pause to copy down charts or definitions that it's really not necessary

Very understandable overview with a very engaging professor--what an exciting and provocative topic
It is fascinating to see how little we actually know about the "stuff" that makes up our universe. Professor Carroll does an outstanding job of laying out the evidence systematically and coherently.

Great Course
This teacher knows his stuff. Not being a scientist I learned tons!
