Great Value for the Money
This worked just as intended. The meters can be properly zeroed with the screw on the front. The control board I received allows for calibrating the meters to a known signal. It also allows the brightness of the backlights to be adjusted. The circuit board itself was of good quality, parts were properly aligned, and the flow solder job looked clean and professional. The board also has a small surface mounted LED as a power indicator. This was a nice detail. Overall this package is of good quality and it worked great for my project. To address some of the complaints about this unit. Yes the wires provided are a fine gauge (24 AWG to be specific). You need to handle them carefully, however this is no different from any other modern electronics. On the plus side, all the wiring harnesses are of ample length (over 10"). Using a good quality wire stripper and tinning the exposed wire ends helps tremendously. I had no wiring problems. There were no instructions with the unit. However all the circuit board connectors were clearly and properly marked. A quick reference to the internet was enough to confirm which meter connections were for power and which for signal. Polarity was properly marked on the back of the meters. The only confusing point on the board is that the inputs are labeled "L" and "R" (with a common ground reference) but the meters are labeled "VU1" and "VU2". However, a quick check with a signal confirmed that "L" and "VU1" go together while "R" and "VU2" go together. The meters supplied with this package are standard 34mm (1.34") diameter VU meters. Yes they are on the small side but at this price point the larger 52mm (2") standard meters are probably out of the question.Overall I was very pleased with both the quality and functionality of this package. It is a great value for the money.

Decent and low cost, but just a tiny bit of documentation would help.
Meters are small, which is obvious from the listing. The board seems to be well done. All the connectors are included, but it would be nice to have a different color for the AC like the board does. Meters seem to work well. All in all, pretty close to what I expected. There is no documentation. You are supposed to guess that the two 12V connectors marked on the board are for back light. You have to figure out which connections are the VU and which are the back light on the meter. VU is the bigger inside connectors on the meters I got. I also seem to have gotten the Rev5 board.

This Works Great...Except for One Little Thing...
This product is great! Very easy to make all of the connections and get the meters moving! The only little problem is that the quality of the hookup wire provided is cheap and brittle. After you make your solder connections to the terminals on the back of the meters, any small amount of bending can cause the wires to easily break away. This can be easily repaired by stripping back a little more wire, tinning it, and making a new joint. I then added a big dab of hot glue to provide some strength and strain relief to the joints and that pretty much fixed it. There is a small 10k screw pot on the PCB for dimming the VU lights and two separate 10k screw pots for calibrating the left and right meters independently. The diameter of the meters circular section is 1 21/64" so a good hole size for your project panel would be 1 11/32”. The larger but and more common 1 3/8" hole size is, unfortunately, a hair too big.Overall, I love this item and would definitely buy it again! At this price, it can’t be beaten!

Cool little VU meter package.
The media could not be loaded. I added these meters to the preamp output section of my DIY stereo tube amplifier. I powered them with 15v (off of the 16v heater supply). At first, I had connected the inputs (for the signal to drive the meters) directly after the volume pots; line level. However, this did not provide enough signal. So, I took the signals at the input to the amps final stage and it worked perfectly. No noise or static is introduced but a very slight signal drop is noticed (but the sound is not otherwise effected). My drive board also came with a pot to adjust the brightness of the meters.Total draw is about 10ma, measured. My only complaint is that the packaging is poor. I had to return the first set because the meters had been crushed. But, Amazon made good on a replacement set and they arrived in 1 day.

If you like having spare parts, this is the kit for you.
Really good kit, decent parts, but absolutely zero instructions, what I was able to find make little to no sense at all and tend to leave out critical steps in order to finish.

It worked.
I am satisfied. Will do one more!

It works, just not sure if its accurate
Should come with some instructions on how to use the VR’s, even if it’s just a small piece of paper showing a website.

Great little project.
The media could not be loaded. Small as others have said but made for a cool little addition to my audio. Combined with tube display makes a visual statement of the music with a vintage flair. Love it.
