I would think so. I've had the set for quite a while now and have put every piece in the dishwasher. I haven't had a problem. I would not have bought a set that was not dishwasher safe.

What metal is the gold band made of? If it is lead, is it at safe levels? Has the gold faded after use?

By all apperances, it is gold. It still looks like the day I bought it and polishes well with Bar Tenders Helper. If you polish, be sure to avoid the gold finish. As near as I could learn about the tableware, it contains no lead.

Is it safe to use in the microwave?

I have had them now for almost 2 years. They are delicate and trimmed with gold so I never put them in the microwave.
