Answer to a Electrical problem that just won't go away !
I bought this EPCM unit as a backup for my restored 1990 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado Pickup with a 305 V8. Not thinking that I would need it, I packed it away with other "Extra's" I have bought since the trucks finish. And three months later, I had a problem with my truck where it would keep burning out the Cars ECM fuse & shut off the fuel pump. Luckily I have AAA, and had the truck towed 2 times back to the shop. But the fuse burned out over and over, but it never left Any "trouble Codes" ! So we had nothing to look for. We tied everything, and I was about to go to sleep one night and I called the shop and left a Message on their answering machine that I had bought a remanufactured Cardone EPCM and a New 'Cal-CHIP'The next morning the shop called and asked for me to drop off the Cardone 77-7747 and sure enough, that was the fix. The old EPCM was 22 years old and had developed a 'Short' inside it's electrical circuit board. Once installed it had to adjust itself to the Powertrain but that took about 25 miles of driving and the Truck now runs perfect, no more blown fuses. Funny how it was the last thing we thought of ?

Seems good. Works at least as good as oem in my 87 Chevy truck 350 cuin
Truck runs slightly better, but I also changed the distributor shortly after the computer due to misdiagnosed EGR issues.

Replace this FIRST
My 1990 Silverado 5.7 truck ran several different ways depending on weather, short trips, longer trips and would just DIE at various times, none were at a convenient place. It would always crank back up after stopping it and letting it sit for a minute or two. I changed the distributor and put on a new EGR valve plus a fuel pump. I started thinking deeper and started suspecting the computer (30 years old). Bought this one and it fit and worked.Take the clips off the left side and move the computer to the left (some muscle required).Had I replaced this part first I could have saved a ton of $$
