The instructions warn you that it may take time for this mat to completely flatten out, and it took all of three days for it to lie flat even in a home I normally keep warm. I even had to place books on the edges to encourage flatness. But once in place, it appears sturdy. Very high quality.

High vs. Extra-High Pile Carpet MatsThe listed technical details of this product are in error. The product dimensions should be listed as 60 x 46 x 0.17 inches. If your combined carpet pile height and padding thickness is one inch or less this will not be a problem.There is a difference between a high pile and an extra high pile mat. The high pile vinyl mat thickness is 0.17inches and the extra high is 0.2 inches.By convention the 60 inches includes the lip section of the vinyl mat.Note: This mat is made from material that has a memory and the vinyl will return to its original shape if indentations occur. Simply roll your chair off the mat and after 6 hours any indentations that were made will disappear. 3 inch casters are better than 2 inch for ease of movement.

Not For 1/2" carpet if you're a person of size.
