Thank You ! I was waiting for that book
I was doing my own emotional research for years - looking at the roots of the word, feeling it, moving it, living it.Having this kind of book in hand makes everything much more accessible and handy. I love to work with lists to discover different aspects of myself, and I like to comparison for other emotions as well.It made my inner world much more clear. I was always "thinking" in emotions, but now there is a lot of added richness to my experiences.Although I am familiar with "List of emotions" like NVC, this one makes it more clear than ever.If you are interested in humans and ready to explorer - get this one.

Better than a dictionary
I am studying emotional intelligence and this book is like a bible for me. It allows you to really learn the different words assigned to emotions, and what is similar/related or often confused with the same emotion you were referencing. By going back and forth, you really start to learn some good stuff. It also talks about the purpose of each emotion, which really helps when dealing with "negative" emotions, and healing from traumatic events which are charged with emotional intensity. I'll be using this information in my EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) therapy.

Must have resource for any Coach/Trainer working with Emotional Intelligence
As an ontological leadership coach, I work a lot in helping clients and teams build awareness of emotions and how to purposefully shift emotional states to advance communication excellence. This book is an excellent resource for providing context and the language/descriptions to enable discussions and explorations of emotions. Furthermore, I recently asked Dan Newby for assistance in deciphering possible emotions that may be contributing to a behavior of one of my clients. He selected a few specific emotions to discuss with my client, which then opened the door for her to consider other possibilities that led to an Ah Ha moment of discovery! Thank you Dan and Curtis for the book as a coaching and awareness tool!

Great resource for understanding our emotions!
WHO KNEW?Who knew that there could possibly be 150 Essential Emotions, and maybe more? Well, my great friend Curtis Watkins did, along with his co-author Dan Newby. And they have written a wonderful, easy to read book about our human emotions that can be read cover to cover, or one random emotion at a time, or for a specific emotion read that needs immediate understanding. The quotes tied to each individual emotion are worth the price of admission. Whether for use personally, professionally or both, this book is a keeper!

Practical, Perceptive, Pithy
I am an executive coach, and in my life, and in that of many of my clients, we experience a feeling and ask "what exactly is this?" Too often, we jump into some action based on a poorly understood and/or defined emotion. This book helps us slow down, reflect and gain a better grasp of whatever it is we are feeling, and therefore, act in better alignment with our true selves. Newby and Watkins have put together an easy to read and easy to use volume without skimping on substance.

Definitions but no follow up
It’s an overall good book, easy to follow, and organized....but, aside from missing some key emotions, my main disappointment is that the authors don’t give any insight into what to do with the knowledge/definitions. It’s helpful to define emotions in more detail, as they do, but I think some of us want to develop better relationships with certain emotions.

Not impressed
I thought the book was hard to read and confusing due to the kindle version. You have to turn back and forth within the pages to make any sense of it.I also thought it was going to be much more interesting and I was wrong.
