Great socks!! If you get hot easily the Ultra Light Version if you don't the Lights are the ones for you.
**Updated 9/7/2016**After a couple of weeks wearing these I have noticed a difference. When just sitting the Light is warmer than the micro light, due to more padding. When working out and sweating I don’t notice a difference. They are both comfortable, wick away moisture, and cool my feet down. However when I’m done working out I do take them off and put sandals on, I did this with cotton socks so this could be a moot point.I wear them all day and can get 2-3 uses before having to hand wash them. I still stand by my original review. Buy these socks! So good! Go micro light if you are afraid of being hot. Go light if you want more cushion. Both are awesome, you will not be disappointed.******This is a review and comparison of the Smartwool PhD Run Ultra Light Micro Socks and the Smartwool Unisex PhD Run Light Elite Micro Sock. This review will be under both products.Synopsis: These socks are AWESOME!! Get them!! So comfy and I will be buying more and now my soft cotton socks feel rough. Wool is the best! It feels like my feet are on a cloud and getting hugged. Both styles are thinner than the regular Smartwool sock however the Light has more padding at the toes and heel than the Micro Light. If you run hot, as I do, I would recommend the Micro light for hot summers. For me the Light version is bearable on hot day however I do notice my feet are a bit warmer when sitting around. The Micro Light is the way to go if you are in hot climates and you sweat easily. If none of this bothers you than either one is fine. Both are comfortable, make your feet feel like they are being hugged all day, and can be worn multiple times before washing. Just air them out and let them dry.I love wool socks however I thought they were only for winter. I run hot and sweat easily, if its 90 degrees Fahrenheit and I jog up some stairs I’ll perspire for 15-20 minutes. Recently I was informed that wool socks can be worn in the summer, in the dessert, and are far superior to anything. I wanted wool socks for multiple reasons, general comfort, workouts, hiking, the moisture wicking properties, and emergencies.Review: Smartwool running socks came to my attention so I thought I would try them out. Not knowing which one to get I bought one of each to test. Both pairs were worn for two days and I worked out both days in them; on days that were about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Both worked great!! The moisture wicking properties are no joke. I was skating and my canvas Vans were getting wet spots from the sock wicking away the moisture. So both days I skated for about 45 minutes and then in the afternoon did 90 minutes of Crossfit. The Light version was a little bit warmer for me than the micro light but not enough where I couldn’t stand it. When I stopped I noticed it was a tad warmer, that’s about it. Other than that they were great. I let the socks air dry and they could be used the next day, no smell. Great thing about wool and it’s anti-bacterial properties.Overall these are great socks, I'll be buying more, and replacing my cotton socks. I like the cushioning of the Light but do feel a very slight discomfort on hot days but not that much. I prefer the Micro lights. I like the idea of having a few pairs to cycle through and that they last for years appeals to me. Next thing is to see if there is year round wool underwear.

👍
Smartwool socks are a bit pricey, but worth it. Compare to Cloudlines to save a few bucks.

Runs smaller than normal sizing
I returned the product as it was too small, though the packaging indicated it was a larger size. Excellent service in terms of shipping time and cost and ease of return, though I did pay for shipping back to the seller. Unfortunately it didn't work for me this time.

Comfortable + zero blisters
They fit perfectly and I don’t get any friction even on 8-9 mile runs that might cause any blisters with other thicker socks. Highly recommend

Good fit; no stink
Smartwool products are well-made, fit the foot well, and, because they are wool, don't stink after a single day's use. They launder well and wear well. So even though they are pricey they are worth it. Note that the Men's Large fits a Women's Size 11 foot.

My husband was doubtful...but realized these socks are worth the $$
I bought these for my husband who spends most of the day on his feet, walking 17-23 thousand steps a day. His feet ached (and were smelly). He typically buys his socks in packs of 6 and values economy. He scoffed when I told him what I paid for one pair of the smart wool socks to “try out.” However, after a day of wearing the trial pair he admitted that the shocks really were worth the cost. He hadn’t noticed that the seam in his old socks were bothering him until he tried these socks. He said the cushioning was better than a cushioned insert. And...now his feet don’t smell. I ordered him 4 more pairs. Well worth the price for someone who works hard on their feet.

GOOD SOCKS!
Merino wool socks is the best for your feet!Keeps you cool and dry when hot and warm and toasty when cold! They cost 3 times more than average good socks from inferior materials that is the only negative.

Overrated
I lost these after a couple of months and really wasn't that fussed. They ran a bit small, the merino didn't seem to perform better than other socks I have owned. I won't buy again.
