Why replace the entire bed frame due to a broken wheel?Given that the bed wheels support the full weight of the bed and occupants it can be common for the wheels to become brittle and break over time. Replacement of the wheels is a fast and inexpensive repair that can breath new life into the frame!These replacement wheels are of thick and sturdy construction and are available with either black or brown wheels. I chose brown to better match the hardwood flooring in the bedroom.Swapping out the old wheels and new wheels was fast and easy. You will need to remove both mattresses from the bed and then either stand the frame on one side or I laid it upside down on a moving blanket.If the old wheel stems are difficult to remove from the bed frame, simply use WD-40 or PB Blast lubricant with the small straw applicator to allow lubricant to seep down around the stem and into the socket. Wait 10-minutes and pull the stem out with vice grips or pliers. Mine pulled right out but if yours are stubborn just apply more lubricant, wait 10 minutes, and try again. A rubber mallet or block of wood and hammer can be used to *gently* tap the wheel guard until stem works its way out. You've got this!

Super sturdy, worth every cent, and easy to install

it comes with 2 locking wheels, however one of the locking wheels does not actually work and is a son of a gun to turn the locking mechanism once it has been put in the lock position however the wheel still moves freely. the other lock does work but difficult to lock/unlock not a huge problem for the price i wasn't expecting anything fancy and still happy with my purchase since i spent a week with an awkwardly lilted bed when i had one wheel previously break (wheels original to my bed not these). these come with a plastic insert for the bed frame and were to large to insert into the holes for the feet however i was able to pull the insert off my previous wheels and these and switch them out they do not fit perfect if i was to lift the bed the wheels would probably fall right out because the inserts original to my bed dont grab ahold of them, but i dont plan on lifting my bed so i should not see that as a con that would keep me from purchasing again. idealy as a larger couple i would love to be able to find more heavier duty wheels (even though these claim to be such they are not) but searching high and low on amazon i have yet to find such things. just plastic wheels that are hollow inside besides some plastic webbing support same as the ones i took off the bed :(

When we moved house, we lost the wheels of our bed frame, so we just needed to replace them, along with the plastic plugs.These wheels were exactly what we needed. Solid metal construction with hard plastic wheels and the plastic plugs already in place on the metal bars that go up into the tubes of the bedframe.The plugs stay OK in the tubes, but it's not a super snug fit. No problem for us having to remove the plugs since we needed them anyway. As others have commented, I can imagine if you just need the wheels because the old plugs are still stuck in the bedframe, it might be difficult detaching the plugs from the wheels. But I imagine a strong set of pliers and some elbow grease would work.The wheels with the brakes work well.The hard plastic of the wheels might scratch a wooden or tile floor if moved around too much, but with the brakes on, the bed stays put nicely. Although if kids were jumping around on it, that might cause the bed to slide a bit on the floor and possibly scratch it, so you may need to purchase some sort of protective casters if that's your situation.
