I tried this on very dry 3c hair that was frizzy and impossible to comb without the use of water. I decided to use this spray without wetting the hair with water just to try it out. When I sprayed the product, it just disappeared into the hair. I could not see or feel any difference in the hair. I was frustrated and thought the product didn't work. I braided the hair into a protective style and called it a day. The next day, I decided to spray the hair with more of this product. I did not take the braids down, I just sprayed and massaged it into the hair/scalp. I continued to do this for six days. On the seventh day, I took down the braids and to my surprise the hair was very soft and manageable. I was able to get the comb through the hair without water. This stuff actually works, you just have to give your hair time to absorb and be repaired by the product. The smell of this product is fine and is a bit nostalgic. This is the same product I saw my father use when I was little. I'm glad to see this product is still around and working well. If you're using this product and it's dripping or you're gagging from the smell, then you've used way too much too fast. Spray, massage, repeat(if needed).

Very good as a moisturizer on the hair.

BEST MOISTURIZER of all time.I used it for my Jeri Curl for 30+ yrs. ( 80s, 90s and 2000s. Now that I'm all natural, it keeps my hair soft, moisturized and it's light weight for whatever style I'm wearing. It also helps with detanglng. I stopped using all those expensive products. Now, I only use Sta Sof Fro. In fact, after a little spray in the morning, I don't even need to comb, just finger comb..Another benefit is "HAIR GROWTH"! Yes, it helps with hair breakage, dry hair and scalp.I Moisturizer with, SSF.Then a good leave in- conditioner, and then I finish with a light gel for egdes. Style and Go! My hair is soft, long, and it has such beautiful body.No,"IT'S NOT GREASIE" or heavy.Try it, I promise you will love your hair again.!!!

I have 4c hair and fell in love with this product as soon as it arrived. I started using this product every few days along with a myriad of essential oils and other natural hair products to lock in moisture, and my hair was instantly much softer, remained moisturized for days and I was able to retain so much more length!The only problem is this product is extremely oily and greasy, and made me breakout multiple times ( I even developed a chin acne rash at one point, yuck!) . This was particularly concerning, as although I have oily skin, I never experience breakouts and am always blemish-free and have pretty non-problematic skin. Additionally, I noticed an oily residue every day wherever I laid my head and couldn't help but to recall jherri curl juice jokes from the movie Coming to America.I really tried everything in my power to be able to continue using this product because I loved what it did to my hair and even washed my pillow cases and blankets every other day, but nothing helped, and I continued to see nasty zits appear all over my face like a teenager. I had to stop using to keep clear skin, however, really did enjoy this product on my hair and recommend others try it if you don't have oily skin.

Been using since the 80's. Best dry hair/scalp moisturizer ever. No oily feel and no overwhelming smell Not sure why the manufacturer have discontinued. Is there an ingredient that can no longer be used?

So I ordered this because my usual product has become too expensive. I needed something that I could use as a detangler. I have been natural since 1999 and have not gone back to relaxers since. My hair can get dry as well as my scalp so I need a product I can use so I'm able to comb or brush through my hair. I just tried this product ( I know that afro sheen has been around forever) But you never know if it still works or will work on your head just because it works on someone else's head. I also saw that they have a whole line of products for natural heads and a product if you want to blow dry your hair. It's not too heavy, but again, it will be different for everybody's hair. I just washed my hair the day before, so now I'm just putting it in four plats and silk like cap till the next day. I did add a twist or cream to the two plats (for braid out) in the back because my ends still felt a little dry. But we shall see how it comes out. Oh and I put perm rods on the ends to for protection and style. (Update) the product seem to work fine. Be careful not to spray too much. As I stated, I just needed something to help with wide toothcombing and brushing. I know I'm still learning how to be better with my hair. The less is more seems to fit my hair. It's all trial and error when it comes to products. Just because they cost more or cost less doesn't mean it's going to work for you.

I have actually been using this product for years! It keeps my hair, soft and manageable and the price is very reasonable. I am glad I found it online. Don’t change a thing!

I have been using this product this the early 80s in my Jeri curl days. It was what I use on my daughter to detangle her hair from a little girl and now she's in her 30s and we still use it today. I will say it seems the formula has changed and it's not as good as I recall it being. It's still worth using and I'm still a faithful fan.
