This Eight O'Clock Coffee 100% Colombian Peaks Coffee is Hard to Beat For Flavor and Price
My wife and I have tried many brands of whole coffee beans over the years. Eight O'Clock Coffee 100% Colombian Peaks is very consistent for freshness, flavor, and price. It smells great. Always high quality and one of the best medium roast on the market. I keep trying to find something that taste better, but haven't. We end up back with Eight O'Clock because it is very good. In fact, the only one that comes close is Peet's, but it is more than twice the cost. All in all this is really good coffee. Well worth a full 5 stars!

Our Favorite Coffee
We've been drinking Eight O'Clock Columbian for well over 20 years. We've tried others, but we always come back to Eight O'Clock. It's a great value. For the money, my wife and I have found that this is absolutely the best coffee for the money you can find anywhere. We always buy the whole bean and grind it ourselves in a high-quality mill for the French press. My wife uses about 12 tablespoons for 8 cups of coffee, and most mornings I say to her, "Honey, the coffee is exceptional this morning." And I mean it. There are a few coffee shop in a 10 mile radius that serve a cup that's at least as good if not a little better (although none of them start with the letter "S"). It's a mild blend that works best (we think) when using ample amounts because that produces a hearty cup without any bitterness.

Not What I ordered, but it has a good flavor for Hot Brewed coffee only
I ordered whole bean coffee, and received ground in a bag that had a small razor knife cut in the bottom of the 8 O'Clock Coffee bag. I contacted Amazon, and the refund went smoothly, but they didn't require that I return the ground coffee. Overall, this is my favorite 'supermarket coffee', but like many supermarket brands, the dark roasts are really medium, and the medium are actually light roast. I have no idea what the light roast versions taste like!. I bought this to experiment with Cold Brew coffee. Knowing that it takes a LOT of coffee to make a decent amount of CB concentrate, I thought I'd buy a good cheap brand that I like. I made a batch with 8 O'Clock (Ground, what was I going to do with it?) and a batch with Allegro Blue Nile Whole bean (Medium Roast). In both cases, the cold brewed coffee had less of an acidic coffee "Bite" to it, However, the 8 O'clock version was much less flavorful than the (much more expensive) Allegro coffee. I suspect that the 'optimistic' branding of the 8 O'Clock coffee as 'medium roast' was to blame. It was almost 'medium roast' and it is close enough that the hot brew method with it's greater 'bite' hides it well, but that the cold brew can't hide the shorter, slightly lighter roasting time. The pre-ground nature of the coffee may have also played a part in this. It would be interesting to see if the 8 O'Clock dark roast flavors would be more suitable for cold brew. When I'm in the mood for experimenting, I will try it out. But for now, I can not recommend the 8 O'Clock Columbian, medium roast for cold brew. However it does make a pleasant cup of hot brew!

No-fuss general purpose coffee
I read some reviews before writing this one. Most were positive, and a few were negative in a way that I can only think came from either a one-off bad product or terrible judgment on the part of the reviewer. Don't kid yourself: This is not gourmet, froufrou coffee with infused spices or exotic growing regions. This is medium-roasted Arabica whole bean coffee for a good price. You, the coffee maker, can make terrible coffee with these beans. You, the coffee maker, can also make great coffee, using proper tools and technique. Unless you leave the bag to sit in your pantry until it expires, like all roasted coffee does, your skills with making coffee are the barrier between these beans and you drinking a good cup of coffee. I've used these to make everything from automatic drip coffee to espresso with good results. Matter of fact, the last bag I got was surprisingly fresh, to the point that it tasted better than some much higher-priced specialty coffee that took a little bit too long to get shipped in.

Tasty, Satisfying Brew
This produces smooth-tasting coffee that offers a good caffeine boost without an "acid" taste or hint of bitterness. As the cost of whole bean coffee continues to rise was good to see a major brand of Colombian available for prompt Prime delivery for sale at a competitive price. But when Amazon's price more than doubles it makes me want to reduce my five star rating to three. We grind these beans in a Capresso 565 Infinity Stainless Steel Conical Burr Grinder + Coffee Grinder Dusting Brush + 3-pack 35G Grindz Coffee Grinder Cleaner and brew it in a Mr. Coffee CG12 12-Cup Switch Coffeemaker, White and are immensely happy with the resulting brew. Whenever Amazon raises the price for this coffee much over $16, we buy these beans elsewhere.

Still the best!!!!
I ordered this 8 O'Clock Columbian coffee for my husband, mostly, in hopes that it is still as good as it was when I was a kid. I remember my mom and dad getting a bag of the regular 8 O'Clock coffee at the store and grinding it there. I remembered the aroma and the little tin ties at the top. I was not disappointed. We can't say enough good things about this coffee. Of course, I have a bean grinder at home now which makes the coffee even fresher tasting. I have subscribed to the "coffee club," as I call it, as I intend to continue to use this coffee for the long term. I would recommend this coffee to anyone looking for an excellent cup of coffee for a decent price. For the price and quality, you just can't beat it with a shovel.

The price is good and the taste is OK, but lacks the intensity that we prefer. We won't order it again.
