ViewSonic X10-4K UHD Short Throw Smart Portable LED Projector for Gaming

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS REVIEW AND THE UPDATE AT THE END The sound is excellent for integrated speakers. The picture's not bad for projecting ordinary DVD's and Blu Rays but I found most 4K discs of old movies very disappointing as the grain becomes a bit of a nightmare - this is common I'm led to believe - although new 4K movies are fine. The black levels are far from perfect though and the edges of the picture merges into the grey surround in dark scenes I have found and the ViewSonic isn't half as good as my old ThemeScene projector. Still the "lamp" for this one is supposed to last 30,000 hours so that is a plus - that is if the rest of the projector keeps going. For after watching just six movies over six days it suddenly overheated and turned itself off when watching the last one, so it had to be sent back. A new one has been sent and I'm just praying that is okay as in the middle of the Covid crisis we have enough problems without having to send equipment back and forth. I have only seen three films so far with that - so fingers crossed. The build looks great as an object but the only control on the projector is off and on and volume, Everything else requires the remote control - so if that is damaged or lost you have had it. When it arrived I was very pleased as it was very easy to set up - but that overheating business , that has been experienced by some other purchasers too, worries me. The firm subcontracted by ViewSonic to deal with complaints was helpful but make certain you have every piece of paperwork, and the box etc etc if you end up having a problem and have to return it. Dealing with all that during the pandemic was a pain i really didnt need. I will say that the woman at headquarters was very supportive though. Additional Information I was sent a new projector and it broke down with the same fault (overheating) after watching only 5 movies over two weeks - thats approx 10 hours in total. I am waiting for the company to respond. All very worrying. Final Information I was forced to go for a refund which was very sad as I really felt this projector would meet my needs but after two failed projectors I wasn't happy to try another one!
