I was going to get him "the Carrot" since it is super easy to use and great for a beginner, but after reading the reviews on the Nokta pinpointer, I liked the features and the price so I opted for that. I must say I'm quite impressed with the Nokta. We went detecting a few days ago and Nokta easily matched my Carrot for depth and sensitivity. It might even get a little more depth than my Carrot and has more sensitivity settings to really fine tune it. The clencher was, my friend is a little hard of hearing and he had trouble hearing my Carrot, but the Nokta has the speaker on top of the battery cover so it was super easy for him to hear it. All in all, it's a great pinpointer that matches the other popular pinpointers in performance and at a better price point. What's not to like? So now I'm thinking of good excuses for replacing my Carrot with the Nokta.
