Miniature Civil War Bronze Mortar

... used as a base and made changes that looked like the 10 or 13 pound mortars
The mortar I used as a base and made changes that looked like the 10 or 13 pound mortars. Tooth picks, super glue, white glue, black paint. Then a base made of balsa wood. Ice cream sticks, wire, brown spray paint, hand made pieces for the top of the mortar and cut pieces of round tooth picks for the gears, small lead rosin core for brackets and about 2 weeks (I took my time). I left the front brace on, and it did not detract from the over all appearance of the mortar. If you are going to paint plastic or metal, make sure you use white glue mixed with the flat paint or it will scrub, wear, or flake office. The paint looks bad but when it dries it looks good and most of all stays where you put it. Don't hurry the painting, if you do, well you get what you put it into it.
