Great violin for the price. However it wasn't set up or tuned as the ad on here said.

Bought as a gift for my wife who has played violin at a high level for years, she loves it, took a few minutes to tune, but other wise perfect for practising

Stay away! Cheaply made, it feels like it is low quality, and boy is it. Doesn't play at all, doesn't stay in tune, bow is useless. Find another starter violin.

Overall, this Vif violin looks beautiful and classy! The included bowl has a nice touch of iridescent (real) mother-of-pearl eye, but it is very heavy and unbalanced. I can't use the bow and must buy another one at a local shop. Therefore, one star is off. The case is a nice light-weight case with blue velvet interior. The small box of Vif rosin is new and in tact ! The violin's varnish has a few minor wood grain blemishes, but not very noticeable. I take off one more star because it is hard to tune and the strings are factory grade steel strings. The strings don't sound very warm. I must bring the VIP to a local music shop to get it tuned properly. The shop person said the pegs are hard to turn, so he must do so slowly.

Lovely violin and sounds great.

I have another violin made by Vif and (even though some people gave it terrible reviews) it is a nice, fully functional violin that I perform with often. And it was a good price too. I wouldn’t listen to the nay sayers on this product. I bet it’s fine. (My Vif violin was a great deal and works fine every time I perform with it, even though some people, who didn’t know shit about violins gave it bad, uninformed reviews). Just thought I’d say something when I was reading through the reviews. PS I’ve played in the National Youth Orchestra, so I know a thing or two about violins.

My son used it for just 2 months and the E string snapped off. He only used it once a week for his music class. The bridge doesn't stay in place.
