Alligator 20th Anniversary / Various

The case was cracked, but the music was rock solid.They weren't playing this stuff on AM and FM radio when I became conscious of my listening options. So many of the artists were not household names to me. If you like Rock but don't know so much about the blues, this is a good start - a magnificent and seminal blues compilation. And I think Alligator is up to their 50th Anniversary collection, if you are so inclined.

A must have for any blues collection.

If you like "electric blues" and similar, this is one of the albums to go for.It has introduced me to several artists I did not know and have learned to love.A real sampler that gives a very nice idea of what was going on at Alligator Records at the time.Very suitable for longer road trips I play both CDs "back to back" and that gets me a long way further alog the road.

After many years, I re-listened to the first Blues Brothers CD. It rekindled my interest in the Blues. I purchased this anthology, as a result of listening to three other Blues anthologies I purchased from Amazon, which were outstanding. I wasn't disappointed. The variety of artists, styles, genre and forethought as to song placement make this set a listening pleasure. The perfect companion for a road trip.Oh yeah, I'm buying the next set for my son, who plays guitar. Nothing like hearing the masters playing it like it was.

Not as solid of song line up as the 25th Anniversary Edition. I know this was supposed to go back to the beginning, which it did, but some of the recordings were pretty old school. Some will like this just for the same reason why I am not so excited about this.

So I bought a new Marantz receiver, a pair of new fronts (Paradigm 7's), to go with my Paradigm 10" power sub, etc. system - threw this bad boy in and over a couple hours turned it up and consumed a 12. I'm tellin' ya - heavan on Earth!Don't even hesitate - BUY IT!. You say you aren't necessarily a blues fan? This record will change that. SUBERB!

Great CD! One of Alligator Records best compilations!Not properly heat-sealed & doesn't have an anti-theft security seal. Was it pressed legally?

Great album, Great blues, And well worth it. You really can't Call wrong with these albums.
