7 Classic Albums Plus

Here are all of Anka's first seven albums, from 1958 to 1962. Where many Real Gone sets also include the singles to the end of 1962, this one stops in the middle of 1960. So while Anka charted 30 songs by 1962 = only the first 16 are here, plus his 18th, but it's live at the Copa. (And are so noted) I've always liked Anka's music, and there's some great tunes here. Great CD set, great price, great music! Beautiful songs, more than worth the inexpensive price.

At last! Waited a long time and checked everywhere to get the songs from his LP "Let's Sit This One Out" - my all-time favorite album. It's his best in my opinion...there are so many songs on this but that album was why I made the purchase. Had a huge LP album collection of Paul's, but no longer. The quality seems at least as good as the LP I used to have with same songs. They are on the last half of Disc 3 in this set. Have not heard the rest of these discs.

Paul Anka ne me déçois jamais , normal ;) mais il manque quelques uns de ces best titres , mais comme je les possède ça va , sinon pour ceux pour qui ce n'est pas le cas , il vaut mieux voir un autre album ;) ex : The most beautiful song of Paul Anka

Dennoch sind auch diese klanglich einwandfrei. Man darf in der Tat keine akustischen Wunderwerke á la Franks Sinatras Eigenproduktionen auf Reprise erwarten, dennoch klingt kein Album 'schlecht' im Sinne von verrauscht, zu Tode komprimiert o.ä. 'Paul Anka '' Swings For Young Lovers' ist in dieser Edition als Stereoversion enthalten, auch wenn dieses Album in verschiedenen Quellen als Mono-Produktion geführt wird. Mangels eigenem Zugriff auf das Masterband kann ich dazu keine Beurteilung abgeben... 'It's Christmas Everywhere' ist dagegen mono (aber gut klingendes) und bereichert den Markt immerhin um eine (wenn auch musikalisch fragwürdige) Rarität. 'Anka at the Copa' wirkt wie ein typisches Live-Album mit den üblichen Publikumsgeräuschen und kann tontechnisch nicht mit anderen Liveproduktionen (Sinatra, Peterson) mithalten, vermittelt aber einen authentischen Eindruck des Abends. Das musikalisch für mich interessanteste Album der Box ist 'Young, alive and in Love'. Jeder Song fängt hier mit den gleichen Worten - >>Young, and alive and in Love<< über einer ähnlichen musikalischen Phrase an, entwickelt alsbald aber einen eigenständigen Charakter. Wahrhaftig eine frühes Konzeptalbum. Für mich ist diese Box trotz komplett fehlenden Booklets jedenfalls eine wahre Freude und ich kann zumal bei dem niedrigen Preis eine Kaufempfehlung guten Gewissens aussprechen.

A lot of music on 4 cd's and very cheap. I did not know much of his recordings of the sixties but I'm very happy with this cd box.
