This is a good cheese slicer! It is durable, light, easy to use, easy to clean, and hang on the wall. It was inexpensive, and it came with an extra wire. I couldn't find a good one like this at the store. They are usually too small to get a good sandwich slice. This one is perfect for sandwich slices as well as cutting cheese into blocks from a 5 lb brick.

It works great! I like that it is large enough for the bigger blocks of cheese. Smooth cutting and easy to use.

Perfect for slicing cheese. Hard boiled eggs too. No roller, board or hinge. Sometimes, simple is better.

It cuts without crushing theses cheeses but is too insubstantial for Jarlsberg or hard cheese.

This cheese cutter is exactly what I needed to cut blocks of cheese into small cubes. I'm so glad I found it!

Cutting into a block of cheese with a knife IS NOT much fun, as it takes a lot of force to get the job done, and it rarely comes out straight. This tool goes through like it was softened butter. Have been looking for this for a while, and on first use, a sigh of relief came out, and other than the tail end not cutting due to where the wire is mounted. The way around this is just by picking up the block of cheese and pulling the last bit through the wire.

I use this cheese cutter for ceramics classes that I teach. It works beautifully.

Bought this style to slice block cheeses and to quickly remove hard rinds from watermelons, cantaloupes, etc. Should work fine for slicing similar medium to soft items but likely to break for harder cheeses and similar. As others have commented, it arrived broken. The plastic packaging is fairly brittle, and it appeared that the edge of the handle punched thru as it shifted around inside the huge mailing envelope Amazon shipped it in. More flexible polyethylene packaging of attaching it to a cardboard should help. It’s also possible that the wire simply broke but one of the fasteners was also missing and it was definitely NOT in the envelope. You can see in the photo that one of the loops arrived broken. However, a separate slide-lock bag was stapled to the frame, and it contained a pair of replacement rivet-fasteners and 2 spare wires with loops. As others have commented, it's extremely difficult to replace the wire by hand. You could use a vise, if you have one; I was able to use small clamp to hold the U-shaped part if the frame so the ends were close enough to attach the wire. (2nd photo) Note that the twisted part of the wire loop must be placed in the slots on the ends, so the loop is bent 90 degrees and the small rivet-fasteners can be pushed in to hold them. Unlike other reviewers reported, my wire is not held with threaded screws. So, check carefully INSIDE the shipping envelope/box to look for the promised spare parts! Hopefully these photos will help others when it’s time to replace a broken wire.

A great little hand slicer that you could use to North prep a cheese board and put alongside if you wanted guests to cut their own slices. Lightweight but sturdy, fits nicely in the hand and was a great price point. I haven’t yet needed to change the cutting wire, will update later if I have any insights on that!

What a great cheese cutter. Works amazing. Compact takes up little space. Price is good. Would recommend this.
