T1200 much much better
I totally agree with Shaulin. Even though we were only upgrading it from a T1200 to this T1300 model, there are many frustrating things about this upgraded 'improved' version. This plotter is probably worth three stars but I'm only giving it two because I was used to the T1200 and it pales in comparison.- The front panel is a pain to navigate, several options that are often used are buried and due to the nature of it, can feel quite laggy.- Nesting is TERRIBLE. Say I want to print two A2s side by side, with the T1200 all I had to do is send copies, the printer would see that the two would fill my page and start printing. This new one nests regardless of anything. Even if I send an A0, it will nest. The only option I have is to keep turning nest on and off depending on when I need it.- Which brings me to the cancel button. The T1200 had a nice red X button so I could cancel my prints anytime. With this one you HAVE to go back to the home screen whereby the red X only appears when you've got a job going. It lights up red, but all other times you don't even know it's there.- There is now no 'move print to front' after you've cancelled a print. I like to print out little snippets to check whether the colour is right. Once I was happy with it I'd just click move to front and a full print would come out. There is no option on the T1300, so if I hit the reprint button (only choice) it will print me two of what I want, especially if I forget to cancel the second one.- The catch tray is also terrible, both the plotters we own have 'broken'. The new catch trays on the T series are these flmsy arms held togethr by a cloth catch tray. At least the T1200 one stayed upright, after about 6 months, the ones on the T1300 gave way. This meant my T1300 catch tray was now sitting parallel to the ground, I may as well let my prints fall straight onto the floor. I've fixed this by putting some bulldog clips in the grooves, but it's defnitely not something I expected to happen. That's my two cents worth. I'm just disappointed because you expect the next model up to IMPROVE on the previous version.

Good printer, bad performance
I own this plotter for almost a year now.Pros:faster than the previous plotter it replaced (Designjet 1050C)Prints PDFs and Images without having to use photo editing software or a RIP softwareDirect USB printingTouch screen operationTwo media rollsNetwork connectivityCons:This printer processing power is LOWInterface is sluggishMenu system too complicated and confusing at timesColors tend to come out way too saturatedePrint software lacks a lot of the setting needed for printingvery small ink cartridgesBasically this printer isn't suitable if you want stuff done fastwhile HPGL files that are sent to my older Designjet 1050c starts printing immediately afterreceiving the file, this printer can take more than 15 minutes to process the file (especially if it's a long print),if set to nesting it won't start printing until processing is done on all fileswhich can take literally hours.the menu system is slow and too complicated, basic operation such as "Form feed and cut" requires digging intothe menu system, no customization of the interface can be done (whats the problem to allow the operator to addan icon or two to the main menu? that's the whole point of a touch screen interface, flexibility)single sheet loading is too long, too user intensive, if you need to print more than a coupleyou'd better be ready to spend hours next to the printer.ink cartridges (except for the matt black) are ridiculously small.while this printer is suppose to be new and innovative, it seems as if HP throw out all ofthe previous concepts from their Designjet line out the windows, making these printers slowand very unproductive, this is the 5th HP Designjet printer I own, and it's the first timei'm so disappointed with one.
