My Side of the Mountain

As summer break approached I asked my 11 year old grandson what we should read. He wanted to read My Side of the Mountain. I had never read it but was eager to read it with him. I loved it. I had heard of the book but didn’t really know anything about it. What a beautiful story. Will be reading the other 2 books in the trilogy. It definitely transcends age, at 65 I found I enjoyed it every bit as much as my grandson. Highly recommend for reading as a family. Lots of wonderful events to discuss and consider how you would respond in that situation.

I loved how everything seemed so wild, like I was eating acorn pancakes and training a falcon. I would love to build a house in a tree, or make a suit entirely out of deerskin. Sam Gribley dealt with living up on the Catskills like it was a normal day in the city. Reading this book made me crave fish, turtle meat, and nuts. I will definitely try to read the second book.

My favorite book as a kid and now my children’s favorite too. Books came in near perfect condition and delivered on time. Thank you!!

i saw this book and hated it purely based on the horrible cover of the edition i had when i was a kid. i swore i’d never read it. but now, all these years later, i’ve finished it and i liked it. i felt it was a cross between those frontier stories Disney used to make and Transcendentalism for kids. the main character is even referred to as Thoreau. it’s not an exact comparison, but several themes are there. besides this, it was a fun story. like the boy version of the girl getting ready with woodland creatures helping her. the boy however has a weasel, a raccoon, and of course a falcon, besides a handful of other forest animals. this wasn’t at all what i’d imagined it to be. i liked this book.

It’s a book, not much I can say about it. It came packaged nicely with no rips or tears or water damage. Bought for our son!

A very basic book that I’ve read countless times. I can’t remember when I first read it but I was young. It’s suitable for any age range, especially those who long to be outside with nature.

love this book! been my favorite since 3rd grade!

Unfortunately today’s youth will probably find this story of adventure , resourcefulness and courage in the real world incomprehensible. Most youth would rather be in a video simulation (And who’s to say we aren’t already in a simulation) than involved in their ecosystem.

Interesting story of growing up in a small town.

I loved reading this book to my son. The writing is easy to read and understand for all ages and the story line is good , clean and wholesome.

D’habitude je n’aime pas lire, mais j’ai beaucoup apprécié ce livre. Il n’y a pas beaucoup d’action mais c’est très captivant.
