Don't Forget to Write for the Secondary Grades: 50 Enthralling and Effective Writing Lessons (Ages 11 and Up)

I used this book all the time for my Creative Writing elective this year! It was a mixed grade level class of mainly 6th and 7th graders and a few 8th.So many times when I needed something on the fly, I just opened the book and found something that I could use with very little prep. Some activities I needed a little bit more planning for, but not a ton. So many great ideas!

Great resource for writing activities. There are several rubrics included, too. I didn’t use all the activities or rubrics for each activity, but, it was a great resource for inspiration! The activities within this book have been developed by some impressive authors and named your students will recognize.

I loved this book. I teach an elective creative writing class for high school students, and this book is almost all I used this year. Lots of different and fun lessons and activities. I highly recommend this as a source of writing project and lesson ideas.

I am using this with high school seniors. Great lesson ideas. Haven’t used the lessons exactly as described, but have used ideas from many of them with good success.

Excellent resource. Jam packed with fun exercises for my class, many of which can be edited or broken up for my time restraints. Lots of variety to keep the kiddos guessing, they never know what we'll do next.

This book has inspired my son to write over the summer. It has some really great creative writing prompts and writing exercises that made writing more enjoyable.

Not enthralling, but some good ideas and useful templates. Worth it for the odd writing workshop and those struggling to produce 'creative' coursework!

This book is likely very good for a teacher wishing to teach writing. I bought it as an extra-curricular resource for my 15 year old son. The book is not very useful for this purpose and I will return it.

So many great ideas here for creative writing, that can easily be used in other subject areas besides English. Thanks!
