I bought this for my cats, as they loved the Tiki Cats pumpkin puree I got them that turned out to be just that, overpriced pumpkin puree. Unfortunately the texture of this is quite a bit different - it's much thicker and not nearly as smooth. I water it down for the cats and they still love it, though I've yet to figure out how to add the wheatgrass flavoring that makes them particularly rabid for the Tiki Cats stuff. One can lasts over a week feeding two cats a tablespoonful every night so this is fantastic value for the money for my purposes. I don't bake, so I can't say whether thicker and chunkier puree is better for pie or bread with than the smoother and more fluid puree my cats prefer, but at the very least it's not at all watery and is a relatively uniform texture with just a little tooth to it, so I think that indicates good quality. I've yet to taste it myself but I assume it's good from how eagerly the cats vacuum it up, and it works great for their digestion too. The can size is average soup can size, and there's almost no empty space or excess water inside as I said, so it's good value. It's a nice bright color too, not brownish at all, and I believe it's just pure pumpkin with nothing else in it so that makes it pretty nutritionally sound and a good source of fiber, which is why the cats get it (not just because they love eating it, that's a bonus). There's no pull tab on the can, it's just a standard cheap can, so you'll need a can opener of some nature which can feel annoying in this day and age, but it does mean you can put the lid back on the can easily if you want to store it in the fridge that way after opebi

I use half a can of this pumpkin puree and freeze the rest for the next time I make the pumpkin chili from Lee Hull's Stopping Kidney Disease Food Guide Recipe Book. The only things I do differently are use two small to medium zucchini instead of the eggplant and 1 cup zucchini. Then I put in 2 1/4 teaspoon vegetable base (or more as needed) and water in place of the salt-free vegetable broth. I also omit the cilantro. And I use half a can instead of just a 1/2 cup of pumpkin. Either way this has become a staple of my cooking so I'm happy to get pumpkin puree at such a reasonable cost! Today I had all the ingredients to make the pumpkin chili and it made three servings with medium zucchini. Now I have extra for lunch tomorrow! I think you will be very happy with the flavor of this pumpkin puree. This is also very low sodium! This is a staple in our pantry. We currently have it set up on subscribe and save. The texture of this is nice and thick. It is not soupy like some other brands. Our dog gets this everyday in his evening meal and loves it. We use it for pumpkin pie and it works great. Sometime the cans arrived dented, but that doesn't affect the pumpkin inside of the can. We have never had an issues with spoiled product.
