Bought to aid in rebuilding rear differentials
Perfectly allows me to set back lash in axle rebuilding and is a very accurate high quality dial indicator. The magnetic base is plenty strong to keep it in position for accurate measurements and comes with a well made protective storage case to keep it in good condition for along time. You cant go cheap on precision instruments like this. However this one is priced very affordable and you wont be disappointed in the quality of product your getting making it a great value

Now I Can Look For Another Drill Press
I used the Fowler Dial Indicator with magnetic base to check the runout on my roommate's drill press. I used it to detect runout on a large drill bit to determine how much my drilled holes would be off. I used the measurement to determine that I needed to get a replacement chuck - one that was not so worn out. After the new chuck was installed, the run out now reads 0.005. That's better than the 0.010 where it started. I would also replace the spindle because the taper was also damaged. THAT part is no longer available. My Fowler Dial Indicator is a very useful tool. The magnet grabbed the drill press drilling table very solidly. Once I figured out how to set it up, it was easy to use. The price was very affordable and it's the right size for what I'm trying to do. I'll use it again for hole depth measurement.

Helpful in trueing up my drill press
Seems quite accurate (enough for woodworking anyway). Easy to use. The whole unit (stand + dial) seems quite sturdy. Having a storage case is very helpful as I don't use this regularly. Planning on using this when needed for many years to come.

Decent dial indicator
I've used this dial indicator for a while now and I'm pleased with its performance. I work in an industrial setting and some environments and people can be hard on things. It's held up to everyday use . The base is nice and the magnet is strong enough for our purposes. One issue I ran into is the four screws for the back cover did back out after 6 months. I used a small drop on blue loctite on them and haven't had a issue since. If I could I would have done this in the beginning when I received it. The case it comes with is also nice and keeps everything where it belongs. I also bought some foam sheets and cut it to the internal size of the case to help with holding everything tight so it can't pop out of the recessed areas for the different components. I haven't had them actually do this but I just wanted to eliminate that scenario from happening and help cushion everything if the case get dropped or jolted for any reason. This is in no way the most expensive dial indicator you could buy and you should have reasonable expectations to the quality of it. That's not to say it's not accurate as I've done comparisons with other more expensive indicators and it holds it's own.

Great tool Great value
Have used this tool to set lash in approximately 20 rear ends now works as well as the high dollar tool truck versions for significantly less

Decent starter set, low quality Dial
The base is nice. Good finish quality on the wrinkle coated portions. Magnetic base works as it should. The dial itself is decent at best. Turning the dial to 0 sometimes doesn't turn with the ring. The indicator shaft sticks for the first 10 thousandths or so of movement. It is not smooth. My case was damaged when I received. See the pics. Overall the base is great. Good quality. The dial leaves a bit to be desired. This would do fine for many entry level uses. I wouldn't use this for anything I need high precision reliability for. The case I can live with. Where it was damaged doesn't look like it would cause issues with the dial.

I am not using this for a living. Just wanted to check my tablesaw for setting it up and it did the job. I would buy it again and in reality I don't know how accurate it is but I know the dial moved at the same spot every time so it told me where the high spots where and really that's what I wanted. Look if it breaks tomorrow I will change my rating but right now I am OK with it.

Worked much better than my previous “clamp on” style with the flexible arm, sold by multiple vendors including Snap On. Magnet could be stronger, but for the price, you can manage. Dial indicator is great compared to the previous accusize product I tried. If you want a better setup, buy the slightly more expensive Fowler indicator (currently $57 CAD on amazon) & pair it with a NOGA stand ($100-$200).

Arived on time in good condition however there is no tip! Not what expected for the amount of money spent. I would think all parts would be there.
