Westek 00182 - 6077B Light Fixture Dimmer

Hey, it's a dimmer switch. It replaced its identical twin in a halogen lamp, and does its job correctly. That's all I wanted, and that's all I got. It earns full points for being just what it ought to have been. Now go and read a one-star review written by someone who thought he was buying a pony, and only discovered his error after unwrapping the thing.

This little dimmer was perfect for replacing the one on my electric fireplace. It has just 1 issue. The nut for tightening it in place is way too small from a thickness standpoint. It's only 1&1/2 threads thick. It will strip out the threads on the tube with just "pinkie" torque. I had to go to my local Ace Hardware and rumage through the replacement lamp parts and found a jam nut that was thicker. Other than that, it works perfect. One caution to note: This dimmer is rated at 200 watt max. That means you should never load it beyond 75 to 80% if you want long life. This is not a material defect. This a general "rule of thumb" for any electrical device in your home. My electric fireplace has 4 candelraba lamps. You can get these from 25 up to 60 watts. I had 4 60's in mine and it roached the original dimmer. There wasn't any max watt warning sticker either. Wall dimmers are rated for much higher watts. These miniature ones aren't.

Great replacement component for a not so great component. I got a lamp from Amazon, after about 3/4 of a year the dimmer failed. I got this as replacement component. So far so good. It was easily installed; I lived to tell, and it works.

These are easy to install in the hollow bases of table lamps if one is handy and has a sharp 5/16" drill bit. Smooth operation and positive "click" off. Rated at 200w which is ample.

It worked fine and did the job, but the picture and name brand is not what I received.

We bought new table lamps with adjustable dimmers in them. Afterward we realized why they were on sale. The dimmers, at full brightness, didn't pass enough current to illuminate a bulb to full output. We also tried LED bulbs and noticed the original dimmers resulted in buzzing bulbs. These replacement dimmers were easy to wire up and install, fit the lamps perfectly, and got us fully light output and greatly reduced noise from the LED bulbs.

We found the size information to be incorrect in the add but after sorting through some of the reviews we were able to feel comfortable with the size and it turned out to fit and and it works great.
