10.5" Hanging Brass Arabic Astrolabe Globe – Maritime Navigational & Astrological Calendar Replica | Handcrafted Brass Nautical Decor & Historical Collectible

I just received this yesterday and am incredibly impressed with the quality. Based on the price, I was expecting something that was just okay. Instead, I got something very close (possibly identical) to astrolabes I've seen at Renaissance faires and similar festivals for anywhere from 2 - 5 times the price of this one. My pictures do not do this piece justice; I urge the seller to post additional photos, because I didn't realize just how many engraved plates came with it. The detail is astounding. The astrolabe is very solid; all together, it weights 2.2 lbs. Excellent piece, worthy of display.

Good: It came promptly and was well-wrapped. The instrument is substantial and has heft to it.Bad: It has the shape of an astrolabe, but if you know anything about astrolabes you will realize that it is not based upon any knowledge of them and how they were used. I gave it to someone who handles astrolabes and s/he thought it was a gag gift.

Super cool and looks and feels like great quality. My history buff son loves it.
