Woman on Top

I have only watched this movie or had it playing in the background of my life about sixty times since I bought it. It is a sweet romantic comedy like the old 30's or 40's classics, with a touch of South American magic realism. Wonderful Brazilian music. Penelope Cruz is just charming and lovely to watch, her best friend is an unforgettable character, and I may watch the film another sixty times to see her husband sing his songs. The movies is visually beautiful and just plain fun. While you are on Amazon order the soundtrack for your car because you won't want to leave the music at home!

With beautiful Brazilian music, gorgeous cinematography and a clever and moody plot, I forgot how good this movie really is. It is inventive enough to stand out from all the other monotonous chick flicks, but still makes you laugh and fall in love with the characters. It is just the right combination of wit, heart and depth; not shallow, but sweet enough to go to sleep right after. Love this movie and wish they would make some more nowadays that are like it.

This aesthetic is in again, at least in 2022. I love this movie its light hearted. Penelope cruz is so feminine and fun to watch. Its not about setting a bad example for women, its for women who do give a second chance because 100s of millions do, to not feel alone.

Box came completely destroyed and opened. Disk scratched like crazy. If this doesn’t play I’m returning it and will be demanding a full refund. I didn’t order used!!!!!

I enjoy the sexy moves from Brazil, its people and its music, as this movie clearly is a celebration of all of them ! great story with great actors, sexy Penelope Cruz is marvelous and the music is so sensual as expected from Brazilian music (I also bought the soundtrack!) I recommend this movie and the soundtrack as they are a gem for our hearts and souls ! Enjoy!

One of my favorite movies. A story of love lost and found through the cooking of spicy, Brazilian dishes.

This DVD is very funny and entertaining! The story line is a riot! I've watched it several times and it doesn't get old. The soundtrack is especially good! Love it!!
