Hyde 02770 Hammer Head Flex Joint Knife, 5" W

I’ve been a union journeyman taper for decades. On my first union job, one of the older veteran tapers came up to me and showed me his 5 inch Hyde knife and told me in no uncertain terms to get one. He said it will be the best decision I will ever make. He was absolutely right.once you use a hyde 5” knife, you will never go by to a 6”. When you are taping corners you want a knife Thats stiff enough to press hard creating a nice square corner. When you are coating corners or angles, you can’t beat a Hyde 5” knife! Nothing better! Less sanding than using a 6 inch one too! It’s so funny that the only stores that sell it are professional drywall supply stores like tamerack supply! (In Minnesota) the shine will quickly wear off but not your love for this knife! Whenever I work with a young or new taper, I tell them to get a Hyde 5” knife.

Consistent knives year after year

Hyde 5" is a tool I have used for over 20 years and they have always served me well for various patching functions as a painter. The 6" just does not cut it for the feel or the spaces I use them in and the 4" is too narrow and applies too much pressure. I could not find a store anywhere that stocks the 5" so I looked on Amazon.com and was super happy to find that the 5" is still made and available. Have removed wallpaper in hundreds of rooms and used my 5" Hyde and a 14" consumer model Goldblatt from the 90's to rebuild those walls and texture them. Also used to repair many earthquake damaged walls with Sheetrock brand fast setting drywall mud in all of the speeds from 5 min up to 120 min hundreds of times and just love the feel of those tools in my hand the the great finish I can create by feel.

The 5-inch joint knife works well for mixing mud around in the drywall tray and for taping joints. Plenty flexible, and easy to work with. My online complaint is that the blade steel begins to rust almost immediately, and requires cleaning and a quick spray with wd-40 after use to make sure it doesn't rust apart.

I have been doing Drywall for over 40 years and I know quality finishing tools. This brand is it.

I like because of the width that is so easy to use and also the handle.

Perfect blade for spotting screws and picking corners.. extremely happy😁! Would recommend to any pro drywall finisher..

What I like the most about this knife is the size of the handle. It's nice and small so that you can hold it and your hock at the same time when you are working with your trowel.
