Land of the Dead (2005) [DVD]

Good film, decent acting and story line, entertaining.

Another zombie film but one that gives a look into the possibility that they can still have memories, a novel idea that works within the context of the storyline

Zombies surround the city. The privileged few live a pampered life inside a swanky tower-block. The huddled masses below live a ghetto existence, protected from the outside by fencing and armed guards. Zombies roam the land, looking for a way inside. As long as humans are alive, the voracious dead will never be out of food. Heavily armed raiding parties hit towns for essential supplies, distracting the ‘walkers’ with ‘flowers in the graveyard’ – fireworks displays. But some zombies, it seems, are less dead than others. They’re communicating somehow. They’re learning to make themselves useful. “They’re trying to be us,” muses Simon Baker. “It’s like they’re pretending to be alive.” George A. Romero’s epic zombie trilogy – Night, Day and Dawn of the Dead – is capped by a vision of hell on earth that could hardly have been bettered by Hieronymus Bosch himself. Its depiction of the decline and fall of a ‘civilised’ world combines the serious intent of Soylent Green and the lurid detail of a John Carpenter picture, They Live and Vampires vintage. Like the earlier films, it has a satirical veneer, though nothing preachy. It’s graphically violent – the 15 classification is a bit mystifying – and funny in a grimly observant way. But there’s no facetiousness here, no camp mugging, no callous pandering. “Zombies, man,” says Dennis Hopper, cradling his whisky. “They creep me out.” Incidentally, Romero fans Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, star and director of the respectful Britcom horror Shaun of the Dead, were reportedly accorded cameos as ‘Photo Booth Zombies’. I’ve seen the picture a couple of times and must confess I didn’t spot them.

Huge action and very good story ok dawn of the dead zombie is the best movies of george romero social movies and critical politic but i like this one and the actor simom baker jhon leguizamo asia argento and hooper a touch of escape of new york and little bit of mad max great and powerful.

Not a terrible movie, in fact, I'd rate it higher than "Dawn...", I'm just not into the whole "thinking" zombie though.

It reminds me of movies like Escape from New York and Dawn of the Dead. Best of all it stars Simon Baker (The Mentalist) which means I can and will watch it repeatedly. :)

La última buena película de zombis de George Romero diría que fue, con buenos actores y zombis algo inteligentes, el Gore cuando devoran personas no te fallará

Estupenda edición de esta gran joya, El audio es increíblemente espectacular, me fascinó al igual que la imagen de este Blu-ray, esta es la edición del corte del director, sólo contiene dos audios, El original inglés y el doblaje al español latino, Al igual que los subtítulos en inglés y español, sólo contiene esos dos audios…. Realmente recomiendo la compra si son fans del género de zombies, Y en especial del maestro George Romero.La película llegó bien empaquetada, Y en buen estado.

Handlung:Die Welt wurde von den Zombies überrannt. Einige Überlebende Menschen haben sich in einer zerstörten Stadt in einem vom Wasser und einer Mauer umgebenden Stadtteil verschanzt. Das Wasser und die Mauer, die elektrischen Zäune und die Soldaten bieten den Menschen in diesem Bereich Schutz, dennoch gibt es 2 Klassen.Die einen residieren im Hochhaus, besser geschützt und mit mehr Komfort, während der Großteil mit wenig auskommen müssen und weniger Schutz genießen und die schützenden Mauern verlassen müssen, um Vorräte in der Umgebung zu organisieren.Durch diese Ungleichheit der Gesellschaft brodelt es gewaltig, was zu inneren Unruhen führt, dazu werden die Zombies mit der Zeit etwas schlauer und werden so zu einer noch größeren Gefahr...Technisches:Das Bild sieht sehr gut aus, der Kontrast ist gut und auch die Schärfe passt.Die Vertonung ist gut gelungen, die Synchronsprecher passen zu ihren Charakteren und die Dialoge sind gelungen.Schauspielerisch kann ich nichts bemängeln, aber man darf hier natürlich keine Wunder erwarten.Blutig wird es hier oft und auch werden immer wieder Körperteile abgetrennt.Die Zombies sind gut gestaltet und bewegen sich langsam fort.Fazit:Blutiger Zombiefilm, welcher gute Splatter-szenen bietet, aber weniger atmosphärisch ist wie Dawn of the Dead. Der Director's Cut macht den Film "runder", bzw vertieft manche Szenen besser.Manchen mag es stören, das die Zombies hier wieder lernen, aber das gab es in Day of the Dead von Romero auch schon, das diese wieder gewissen Intelligenz zurück erlangten.
