Xfinity New COMCAST HDTV DVR Cable Remote Control XR2

Received the XR2 remote on 1 October 2017. The reason I ordered the XR2 was because some of the buttons on one of the two original XFINITY remotes I have, which I've been using with two XFINITY Cisco RNG150N cable boxes for over 3.5 years, have stopped working (e.g., the VOL, All On, and Exit buttons). I took the problematic remote apart, cleaned internals, including rubber push buttons, with alcohol and compressed air duster, but that didn't do any good. I believe the remote's rubber command buttons tend to deteriorate, or maybe deform, ever so slightly over time, causing contact issues with internal control board circuitry, resulting in command failure. That and/or control board circuitry begins wearing out. The XR2 remote works flawlessly with both Cisco boxes and has restored functionality lost in problem remote. I was also able to program the XR2 with the same code (after some trial and error input of other recommended Samsung codes) to control two older model Samsung TV's (one purchased in late 2009, the other in early 2014). I read one reviewer's comment somewhere under Amazon product reviews, either for this remote or for others I was considering (I forget exactly where) that a replacement remote for an XFINITY cable box should look exactly the same as the one being replaced. In my particular case, that turned out to be inaccurate as the original remotes that came with the CISCO boxes look significantly different from the XR2, at least with positioning of some of the control buttons (see photo). If my other original remote starts to fail, and as long as I have XFINITY and these particular cable boxes, at least now I'll know what replacement remote to go for.

Granted, these remotes are older models. Having said that, they are EXACTLY what I need for my Comcast/XFINITY cable boxes! This model is especially useful because, unlike other models, when paired with my TV, I can easily change the TV input (some model remotes do NOT have the INPUT button). They are easy pair with Comcast/XFINITY cable boxes as well as all the TV models I own. Very happy with purchase!

Our remote for an older 19 inch Samsung had finally worn out. This is an excellent replacement, and in some respects easier to use at least to attach/pair with the Samsung TV. We use Comcast and it looked to be straightforward: first you set up so you can control the picture And then you add a code that is included for Samsung, and other TVs to, so that you can use volume and mute. This works with the second code. I am pleased to say, and I am so happy with this that I bought a second in case these are difficult to find in the future .

This remote does not work with the Xfinity cable box. I was able to pair it to the Samsung TV but it would not pair with the Xfinity cable box. The directions say it is already set up/paired with the cable box but it's not, and there was no code provided for the Xfinity box. I tried looking it up online and was told to press the Xfinity button and Info buttons together, and a 3-digit code appeared on the TV screen and it said to input in into the remote but the number buttons would not work on the remote so there was no way to enter the code. Total waste of money because it isn't returnable. Also, it was extremely sticky when it arrived.

I was looking for one like this for a while I was so glad you still had one. I've got an old system, and this version was hard to find.

My old remote was held together with tape. I tried to get a new one from the cable company, but they only have the newer ones and I would need a new cable box too. Amazon saved the day! And it literally arrived in the mail in only a few days.
