DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: London [DK Publishing] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: London Review: Our favorite Travel Guide Series - We travel abroad quite often and have relied on several of the DK Eyewitness series of guides. These are the best among a lot of similar publications and this one describing London is one of the best of the best. The maps and photos are exceptional. The text is informative and just about right in detail. The book is easy to use the way it is organized by sections of the city. This latest version of the London Eyewitness DK guide is surprisingly more complete than the earlier edition which we have been taking with us. The tube map has been updated to show new lines and stations. There are several individual street maps that are very good. There are also 3D aerial view maps showing drawings of the buildings and monuments which are very helpful as well as interesting. The walking tours included are useful to those of us that like to see a city on foot. There is a reasonably complete street finder index and sections devoted to finding restaurants and pubs. Shops, hotels and entertainment venues are also covered. There is even a section devoted to childrens London. Everything is up to date. The book itself is printed on high quality paper and isn't going to fall apart with heavy use. The print is large enough to easily see and there are front and back cover flaps that can be used as bookmarks. The book has a very nice chapter devoted to the history of London and there is the usual section full of practical advice for the traveler. I really do believe this London DK Travel Guide is worth the money and it will be with us on our next trip to London. It should be with you too. Review: London calling..... - If that is London calling for you, you better rush right out and buy yourself a copy of DK's London guide. I have just finished my trip to London & Scotland, using both of the DK guides and once again, I felt they provided what I needed to take a relatively short span of time and help me to decide what the plan A (must see) and plan B (would like to see, but ok to drop if needed) items would be. In all of the guides, including this one, there is history, a description of the times to go, what the weather may be like, any festivals, etc, a breakdown by area, and my most favorite thing of all the full color, glossy drawings and pictures of the sites, including street maps, cut aways and detailed information about the most popular sites. In the back is survival info...all the things you want to know but might not want to ask. I am the planner of the trips in my family, so it is really nice to be able to put an agenda together then be able to have a good visual to show hubby to see what he thinks. I have found all of the guides to be very well done and London was no exception. I felt that I really maximized my time and I knew what to expect going there. The one area that I have to admit I don't use much is the restaurant/hotel section. I just never seem to find exactly what I want there, and go to other sources, mostly online for that piece, but overall, a really well done guide and excellent resource. If London is calling, you would be doing yourself a favor in picking up this book to help you guide your planning. It is money well spent.

Valuable Travel Resource
I spent Christmas 2013 in London this year and needed a new city guide. The newly published DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: London was perfect for my trip. Written clearly and concisely, this city guide offers much in the way of opinions and information that will make your trip easier and more enjoyable. I especially liked the detail of this guide. It provided insights that other guides would not include. It also provided estimates as to the best time to visit particular attractions and what to look for. The map of the subway system was also invaluable as I always seem to get turned-around without one and the recommendations for attractions and restaurants were spot-on with my own experience. I also liked the recommended itineraries which optimize your time in this magnificent city. And I have to say, I really love the DK Eyewitness City Guides series of travel books. Not only do I own this one for London, I also own DK Eyewitness City Guides for Seoul, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan. All of which are very professionally written and offer the travel great information. Hands-down this is THE BEST guide to the great city of London!

Beautifully Illustrated-Wonderful Maps
In comparing this to most other travel guides, this book probably has the best maps and views of streets and museums. Because of the beautiful quality of the illustrations and images, the book is quite heavy (paper stock is rich), and I wouldn't take it on my trip. Plus, the font size in the book is incredibly small so it's not really easy to read without my reading glasses on. It covers everything important, though. It's got a little bit of an English or European slant, referring to the second floor as the first floor (because our first floor is their ground floor) and then addressing getting to London by train before getting there by plane (who in the US gets to London by train?) but that's shouldn't be a detraction.

Like all DK Guides - perfect
I buy DK Eyewitness Guides for all my trips (I travel a lot for a living). They are simply the best at both orienting you in a city, guiding you to interesting places, and educating you on what's around you - all while being VERY VISUALLY ACCURATE. The 3d street drawings, the identification of landmarks and details, the historical backgrounds and the "look for this interesting thing" tips are wonderful. Read the guide before you go cover to cover. Sticky note what you want to see, and carry it in your camera bag/backback. You'll not regret it.

Best travel guide out there
DK Eyewitness travel guides are detailed and thorough and designed to be used before you arrive at your destination as they are very heavy to carry along on each daily adventure. They are filled with excellent and accurate pictures and helpful maps and set tours. The latest DK London guide is a delight and easy to take notes from. The restaurant, hotels, things to do and museum entrance times are all updated. If you are looking for one to take along with you, however, try their 10 ten abbreviated guide, available to every major city in Europe and most in the US.

All London sightseeing well described, map included. I travel to London for the first time and this guide is really helping me to plan my trip.

This is an excellent book for anyone wishing to visit London without wasting time wondering where to go or what to do when you get there. The chapters lay out different areas, with maps, pictures and loads of details about how to get there and what to do when you are there. There is a bit of history about the place and planned routes to walk around. It will certainly help you to plan your adventure and if you find the book cumbersome to take with you then photocopy the relevant pages and your off!
