I really don't like the smell of vanilla on its own. I find it cloying. I was very careful to order the set that did NOT have vanilla (and it's not easy to find, as they always foist it on you in "popular scent" kits). So I was rather disappointed when they sent me the wrong set...the one with vanilla. Oh well. When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade. The other scents (lavender, freesia & rosemary) were much nicer than I expected, and how many candles am I really going to burn? I scooped out the vanilla candle with an ice cream scoop, ripped the wick out with pliers, and used the tin to store hair clips. So now I have three lovely candles, and that's good enough for me. I like that the wax is natural and not colored. As for complaints about opening the lids: if you TWIST as you pull off, it is way easier. They initially come with a ribbon insert to help you out, but just trying to PULL straight up is indeed difficult. So twist, and you'll be fine. Also, they're not kidding that the tin gets hot when the candle is burning. It's thin metal and heats up immediately. I burn mine on a felt coaster to protect surfaces. All in all, a nice set. I'm a big fan of essential oils and I agree that these have that nice "clean" smell to them. Would definitely make a classy looking gift.

Pretty tins,nicely boxed, smell good ,subtle but haven’t burned them so can’t comment on that aspect as they are to be part of a gift.

Look nice but not strong smell

What a beautiful package they arrived in and the smell upon opening was amazing. I haven't burned them yet so I cannot say how long they last or whether they are smokeless but they are made of 95% soy wax and 5% American essential oil.Would make a lovely gift but they are mine!! I would definitely order again.
