Llewellyn's Complete Dictionary of Dreams: Over 1,000 Dream Symbols and Their Universal Meanings (Llewellyn's Complete Book Series, 5)

More insightful than most dream dictionaries
A lot of the dictionaries, apps and books, draw mostly on Gustavus Miller's source, since it's public domain. Those dictionaries are usually quite simple, vague, and obvious. "A tree means life" kinda deal. I went through a huge dream interpretation phase, pre ChatGPT (which just does it for your flawlessly), and always died on the Llewellyn hill. This dictionary's entries are significantly more deep and insightful, in a way that helps you improve your understand of how the whole system works. I had a lot of aha moments looking things up in this, and eventually bit the bullet and decided to read the book front to back (I was really into dream interpretation at that time). The net result is I no longer need a dictionary, because I can intuit what a symbol might mean, having never heard it before, based on the analogies & structure this book provides. This dictionary is more "teach a man to fish" than the other ones. Further, even when it "gives you a fish" it's bounds more thorough and deep than the alternatives. The trade-off of course (no free lunch) is that the dictionary has way fewer entries than most dictionaries. You won't find everything in here, so you'll have to come up with words close to what you experienced in a dream. Eg, "I was waling" - you might need to look up fishing, and wale, separately; where another dictionary might have "waling" as an entry. But that's fine, flex your creativity in word-matching; it's worth the deeper insights.

A useful resource
The best dream dictionary I have found. No fortune-telling, just symbolism and universal meanings. Includes a fairly extensive list of dream symbols with some startling and insightful interpretations. If you want a psychological approach to dream interpretation, then this is the book for you. My only complaint is that the N section is too short.

nice book, not very detailed
This book has a lot of meanings of symbols in dreams but I feel that a lot of these meanings are a bit vague or repetitive. Still a good, simple reference book

Best dream dictionary out there
A couple decades ago my best friend got this Llewelyns dream interpretation book. Thinking they were more standardized I bought a different dream dictionary for myself, instant disappointment and I was never able to recall the book my friend had years before. Long story short, as soon as I (randomly) saw the cover of this book recently I KNEW this was the same book. Holding on to this one. So so grateful to have found it again

Great buy!!
Wow this book is amazing. The definitions are lengthy and give thorough explanation (not just one liners as ive seen in other books). It is not pocket sized so this is not the type you can throw in your purse. This is a great book to leave at your bed side or coffee table. This would make an excellent gift for anyone. We all have strange dreams sometimes and always wonder what they mean.

Somewhat its helpful just not all what I really need
This author doesn't include many common symbols in dreams for instance empty chairs, heavy chains, any reference to elderly, or singular items such a dish, limited explanations on colors. I couldn't find anything on the color gold; yeah I checked yellow but I wasn't satisfied with his explanation, sometimes you just know it means more than what the author has printed. He is lacking in other areas that I needed for a full rounded understanding. So I looked the author up further and found out he had another volume of Dream Dictionary and I am just stewing on that discovery. So I am changing authors. I will keep this one for backup.

I highly recommend it.
I have followed Dr. Lennox's blog and social media as well as taken advantage of his radio shows and other books - His unique perspective adds expanded dimensions to the interpretations of dreams, symbols, astrology and the science of consciousness. I find that when referencing this book for my own dreams it lends clarity to the sometimes muddy waters of this soup that my mind will present to me visually. I am too close to it sometimes to see the real meanings behind the visual but Dr. Lennox helps put things in context. This book is a must for anyone seeking to lift the veil of their own inner being trying to communicate through dreams. I highly recommend it... Thank you Dr. Lennox.
